My dad (passed away) used to listen to Dr Laura in San Francisco on KGO radio. He was from Texas and agreed with her 100%! My dad was a no nonsense person too!!

I agree with Dr. Laura 80% of the time. However, I'm always surprised at the things people can't resolve on their own. When did this lack of conviction and moral ambiguity start? Especially on basic family matters?

Haters uncovered a few personal things about her and smeared her rep.
I believe she remarried, like that is a crime for a therapist, posed nude in college or shortly thereafter, again, so what! You haven't done stuff or taken a pic you NEVER want posted nationally? If it was your gynecologist, heart surgeon or dentist, would it matter if you needed them?

@ianh1984 , I listened to her show throughout the 90's and I found her on Sirius XM recently. I mean, I agree with her moral stance on issues and how alot of things are just silly that we ruminate on for years and years, BUT she really has gotten grouchy lately!!!! I'd be terrified to call her. Almost any question I'd have would no doubt be met with interruption and making me feel like an idiot. AND many times I would really like to hear the caller complete their stories! They sound really interesting, and isn't the show supposed to be entertaining as well as informative?

@JMelissaMc I don't mind someone learning from their mistakes and trying to guide others to avoid those same pitfalls. It's the way she does it that bothers me. She berates people without listening to the full context, cuts them off, and screams at them as if they're a child. Meanwhile the situation the caller has, a lot of the time, pales in comparison to what she's done in her questionable past. A loving and empathic approach from someone who's made her share of mistakes would be a more acceptable tone than the holier than thou, judgmental tone she expresses.

She has many times said that she used to be a feminist with no religious beliefs. She turned her life around after Derek was born and turned to her Jewish roots. She is trying to save young people from making poor choices like she did, and explains it well. She is only espousing Christian beliefs and values, because few parents do nowadays. I will doubt any man would disagree on her family/husband stance of making them important. She has a whole book on how to make a man happy. I want to hear any man read that book and tell me that they do not want a wife like that!

@ianh1984 She is just a nice talker who found out how to adress people. The rest is manipulation technique; tell the crowd what they want to hear, use a lot a common sense in your talk so that people can say "she is bright" "she talk the truth" use randomly some expert lingo so people can say "she is intelligent" "she has x degrees" etc. etc. Just manipulation really.

and I know many people will say "context". That doesn't matter, because if you've listened to her show for even five minutes you'd know she never looks at context when berating her callers with her holier than thou BS. She's the typical "Do as I say, not as I did" archetype.

My four daughters grew up with me listening to Dr Laura the mind and mouth of good reasoning. My daughters are well into their twenties and one is thirty. They grew up listening to Dr. Laura. Not that they are perfect in doing what she taught them. But, her words have bitten into their behinds once in a while and then they say I should of listened to Dr Laura being my conscious. She did teach me about this matter. They have all read your book the Ten Things Women and Men do to Mess up Their Lives when they were young and teenagers. We LOVE you Dr Laura and Thank You for everything that you do!
