Georgia Peaches
Lauren Alaina Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Way beyond the city lights
Lies a cowboy's paradise
Honeysuckle on the vine
Growin' up on southern time

Love to dance and we love to flirt
Ain't afraid of a little dirt
We ain't late for Sunday church
Mama raised us not to curse

Well, our shorts a little shorter
'Cause the sun's a little hotter
Sippin' lemonade while we're playing in the water

Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh
Ain't nothing sweeter than us Georgia peaches
Ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh oh oh
There's a reason why the boys pick
The Georgia peaches

We grow where the grass is green
We got homegrown in our jeans
We love country everything
From Alan Jackson to Al Dean

Well, our drawl will drive you crazy
When we wink and call you baby
You don't stand a chance
Once you've seen a southern lady

Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh
Ain't nothing sweeter than us Georgia peaches
Oh oh oh oh, ooh ooh oh oh
There's a reason why the boys pick
The Georgia peaches

Oh, ain't nothin' sweeter

It don't matter where you're from
Come on in and have some fun
We're gonna treat you like your one of us, yeah

Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh
Ain't nothing sweeter than us Georgia peaches
Ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh oh oh
There's a reason why the boys pick

Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh
Ain't nothing sweeter than us Georgia peaches
Ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh oh oh
There's a reason why the boys pick

Ain't nothin' sweeter
Ain't nothin' sweeter
Ain't nothin' sweeter

Than Georgia peaches

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Lauren Alaina's song Georgia Peaches depict the beauty and uniqueness of life in the southern state of Georgia. The song starts by describing a paradise beyond the city lights, where honeysuckles grow on vines and time moves a little slower. The people there love to dance, flirt and aren't afraid to get a little dirty, but they also respect their roots enough to attend Sunday church and keep a positive attitude taught by their mamas. Alaina's lyrics explore the southern pride and hospitality of the people of Georgia, where the grass is green, country music fills the airwaves, and homegrown attitudes are on full display.

As the lyrics move forward, it's easy to sense the pride of the southern people. They're unapologetic about who they are and how they speak, with their drawl that is enough to drive an outsider crazy. But really, it's the beauty of southern women that shines through. Winking and calling you "baby," and once a boy has seen a southern lady, they don't stand a chance. The chorus sums up the song's message as the "Georgia Peaches" themselves, with nothing sweeter in the world.

Overall, Georgia Peaches explores the pride and beauty of the people of Georgia. From their love of country music to their hospitality, the song captures the spirit of the southern state.

As a Georgia Peach myself, this is one of my favorites by Lauren! (even if she didn't write it herself lol) She's really come a long way since her Idol days - so proud of her!

Arguably, more songs mentioned about Georgia than any other US state : Rainy Nights in Georgia, Georgia on my Mind, Georgia Peaches, Georgia Rose and off course Georgia Rain, just to name a few . Who agrees?
A great song...
God Bless Georgia.

@tickedoffsheikh8587

@Savannah Smith .... hahaha..and that too....I was just looking at a video of Georgia when I saw your post.

@dlcalbaugh

Actually according to Google New York had the most mentions, 51, although it estimates that many of those references probably refer to the city, not the state. The second was California, with 26 mentions, followed by Georgia (21), Texas (13), Tennessee (11), Alabama (9), Mississippi (8), Kentucky (7), and Hawaii and Virginia (6).

@tickedoffsheikh8587

@@dlcalbaugh Wow, Dianna you did your research... that was cool. So we can say Georgia is in the 'Big Three...'
Stay safe.

@jonogren5567

Devil went down to Georgia.
