Light Of The World
Lauren Daigle Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The world waits for a miracle
The heart longs for a little bit of hope
Oh come, oh come, Emmanuel
A child prays for peace on Earth
And she's calling out from a sea of hurt
Oh come, oh come, Emmanuel

And can you hear the angels singing

Glory to the light of the world
Glory, the light of the world is here

The drought breaks with the tears of a mother
A baby's cry is the sound of love
Come down, come down, Emmanuel
He is the song for the suffering
He is Messiah, the Prince of Peace has come
He has come, Emmanuel

Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
For all who wait
For all who hunger
For all who've prayed
For all who wonder
Behold your King
Behold Messiah
Emmanuel, Emmanuel

Glo-glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Behold your King
Behold Messiah
Emmanuel, Emmanuel

The world waits for the miracle

The heart longs for a little bit of hope
Oh come, oh come Emmanuel

Overall Meaning

"Light of the World" by Lauren Daigle is a soulful song that explores the yearning for hope and peace in a world that is full of chaos and hurt. The opening lines indicate the great anticipation the people had for a savior, a miracle that could bring peace and hope to the world. The song mentions the prayer of a child wishing for peace on earth amidst the pain and suffering, and a mother’s tears that signify despair and drought. Daigle also mentions Emmanuel, the name of the prophesied savior in the Bible who would bring hope, peace, and salvation.

The chorus of the song, “Glory to the light of the world,” represents the realization of hope that appears in the form of a baby crying- the sound of love. This is a reference to the birth of Jesus Christ, the light of the world, who brings hope and peace to all those who believe in him. Daigle emphasizes that the Prince of Peace has come with a powerful message of hope that promises to bring an end to the suffering and pain.

The song is beautiful and full of hope, and it reminds the listener of the importance of faith in bringing light, love, and hope to others. Indeed, the song encourages everyone to behold the king and understand that He is the light of the world that will bring salvation to them.

Jesus was the light of the world
True story
The humans
The did not have the blood of sacrifice
That Jesus had
It’s how he was able to see
The truth
And the people there spirits were
Asleep
But Jesus he came to teach us
How to awaken to the light
The truth of the world
A new world has begun
And this time we all need to try harder
And help the truth of Jesus win
This time around
Help the truth
And that’s how you help Jesus

Please keep my wife in your prayers. She has myotonic muscular dystrophy. Her mobility and ability to walk has regressed over the past few years. Doctors cannot heal or cure her, but I know God can and will. Please make this a daily prayer request for her. It is hard, some days, to stay positive and to not worry about her situation. I rely on the love of God and the prayers of others to get me through. God Bless and thank you! #CureMyotonicMuscularDystrophy

Hi my dad left me all alone in this world at February 10 2:43 am couldn't even say a goodbye. First i thought to die and meet my dad but realised I too have work to finish and had another thought that God doesn't exist like other people who lost their relationship with Christ. Was about to ask people if there were really jesus then before I could say anything i realised something that one day I will too return back to Jesus then I can hug my beloved dad tightly and say dad even if people who forgetted you i never forget your love and kindness to me while I was alive in world.. i love you Jesus.
