I sometimes struggle with temptation and feel like I am living life without purpose or direction.

And the old me tries to take over
I sometimes struggle with my old sinful nature and the temptations that come with it.

Comes back and thinks it's Jehovah
My old sinful nature tries to convince me that I can live my life without God and that I am in control.

How wrong could it be to see that there's now a new me
I am acknowledging that through Jesus, I have become a new creation and have the power to overcome sin and temptation.

Through Christ I'm a new creation
I am stating that my identity is found in Christ and that through Him, I have been restored and made new.

So don't come and hate on me, old me
I am telling my old sinful nature that I no longer want to live under its influence and control.

Cause' your dead on the cross with my sins
I am acknowledging that my old sinful nature has been crucified with Christ and that I am no longer a slave to sin.

The old me is crushed with the sin
I am stating that my old sinful nature has been defeated and destroyed through the power of Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

The old me, uh yeah
I am affirming that my old sinful nature no longer has any power or influence over me.

The old me, I don't know you
I am declaring that my old identity and way of life is no longer a part of who I am.

Lord I'm tryna live in Your word
I am striving to live a life that is guided by God's Word and grounded in His truth.

Help me to put You first
I am asking God to help me prioritize my relationship with Him above all other things.

I'm tryna crucify my flesh
I am making a conscious effort to deny my sinful nature and live a life that is pleasing to God.

Take my hand and lead me to the promised land

I am referring to the blessings and abundance that are found in God's presence, as described in the Old Testament.

I believe that God's Word and presence are essential for my daily spiritual nourishment and growth.

I am asking God to help me stay connected to His Word and His presence, and to live a life that is grounded in His truth and love.

I want to remain connected to God even during difficult times when I am struggling to understand His plan for my life.

I want to remain connected to God even when I am facing trials and challenges in my life.
