TO ANOTHER PLACE
WALK ME THROUGH THE FIRE
THROUGH THE BURNING HAZE
I´LL BE CRAZY NOT TO STAY HERE
THOUGH I WANT TO LEAVE
BUT ANYWHERE I TURN NOW
DRIVING ´ROUND DOWNTOWN AFTER OUR LAST FIGHT
(I put my finger on your lips and closed the door)
NOTHING NEW AROUND HERE, NOT A SOUL IN SIGHT
(It´s not something that I have not done before)
MAYBE I HAVEN´T CHANGED, HAVEN´T DONE THINGS RIGHT
(Your words can still make me lose my mind)
I´VE BEEN CROSSING THE SAME OLD STREETS ALL NIGHT
(I´m too wired to let go and just unwind)
COME TAKE ME HIGHER
TO ANOTHER PLACE
WALK ME THROUGH THE FIRE
THROUGH THE BURNING HAZE
I´LL BE CRAZY NOT TO STAY HERE
THOUGH I WANT TO LEAVE
BUT ANYWHERE I TURN NOW
WILL FEEL INCOMPLETE
WHEN THE SEX WALKED OUT, JEALOUSY CREPT IN
(How could you live without it, not even think about it?)
WORDS HURT, NEVER KNEW WHERE TO BEGIN
(I started cracking up, my mind was too crowded)
I BROKE A RULE ONCE. THEN I BROKE THEM ALL
(Can´t explain why it set my mind at ease)
ME BREAKING BAD TORE DOWN THE LAST WALL
(Driving round downtown trying to find some peace)
COME TAKE ME HIGHER
TO ANOTHER PLACE
WALK ME THROUGH THE FIRE
THROUGH THE BURNING HAZE
I´LL BE CRAZY NOT TO STAY HERE
THOUGH I WANT TO LEAVE
BUT ANYWHERE I TURN NOW
WILL FEEL INCOMPLETE
IF YOU AND I DON´T WORK OUT
I KNOW THAT NOTHING
IN THIS WORLD WILL EVER WORK OUT
EVERYTHING THAT WE THOUGHT
WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE
WE MADE POSSIBLE
BABY ISN´T IT TRUE?
Ooh
Ooh
COME TAKE ME HIGHER
TO ANOTHER PLACE
WALK ME THROUGH THE FIRE
THROUGH THE BURNING HAZE
I´LL BE CRAZY NOT TO STAY HERE
THOUGH I WANT TO LEAVE
BUT ANYWHERE I TURN NOW
WILL FEEL INCOMPLETE
WILL FEEL INCOMPLETE
WILL FEEL INCOMPLETE
The lyrics of Laust Sonne's song "Downtown" delve into the complexities of a relationship that is at a breaking point. The chorus, "Come take me higher to another place, walk me through the fire through the burning haze," expresses a desire for change and transformation, to move beyond the current state of turmoil and uncertainty. The singer craves a new beginning, a fresh perspective that can elevate them from the current emotional turmoil and confusion.
The verses reflect a sense of inner conflict and struggle. The line "I'll be crazy not to stay here, though I want to leave, but anywhere I turn now will feel incomplete," portrays the internal tug-of-war between holding onto familiarity and the fear of venturing into the unknown. The singer acknowledges the necessity of change but also grapples with the discomfort of leaving behind the known, even if it is causing them pain.
The lyrics describe the aftermath of a fight, driving aimlessly through downtown, searching for solace and peace amidst the chaos. The mention of past mistakes and regrets, such as jealousy creeping in when intimacy faded away, highlights the themes of insecurity and the impact of unresolved issues on the relationship. The singer struggles with inner turmoil and a sense of guilt for not being able to navigate these challenges effectively.
The final verse reflects a moment of realization and acceptance that the relationship might be reaching its breaking point. The acknowledgment that if the relationship doesn't work out, nothing else in the world will work out underscores the all-encompassing impact of their bond. The repetition of the chorus at the end with the added emphasis on feeling incomplete reinforces the idea that despite the desire for change and transformation, the uncertainty of what lies ahead leaves a sense of incompleteness and unease. The song captures the internal conflict, regrets, and longing for clarity and resolution within a struggling relationship.
