Lazarus Lyrics

Oh, why are we estranged?
I used to feel your pain
But now, all I know is rage
And I'm using it wisely (Could you please just)
Say my name
I'm not talkin' stage
Say my name
You know we're not estranged
Oh no, ou whoa ou whoa
We're not estranged
We're just deranged
Can't stop what I'm doin'
Meta in my physic, kill me twice, now I'm bloomin'
Winter in my birth, but in soul, I'm a flame
Born and raised to kill you lames
Red and yellow in my frame
Say my name, say my name
Or forever be estranged
Miss the trips of a power that can only be explained
By the G.O.A.T.s, by the greats
Alex ain't my name
But this empire I shall raise, bitch
I ain't got a single fuck left
Everything I've ever held is dead
100 bands just to make a change
But you don't know a fuckin' thing
All I do is slave
All I do is hate
All I do is motherfuckin fight all the pain
Talkin' to my Saints
Cryin' everyday
I ain't giving up, I ain't gonna be estranged
I was made to attain
All your shit is in
All your shit is in
All your shit is in vain
I was made to attain
I can't even see my likeness
You don't scare me, you ain't shit
I'm a motherfuckin flight risk
Hate me but you like it!
Hate!
Hate!
Hate!
Hate me!
Hate me!
Hate me!

Hate me!
Hate!

Overall Meaning

In the lyrics of Lazarus's song "Name," there is a deep sense of internal struggle and transformation portrayed through the emotions of estrangement, anger, and determination. The singer reflects on a past connection, questioning why they have become distant and estranged from someone they used to empathize with. The shift from feeling the other's pain to now only knowing rage hints at a significant change in their mindset and emotions. The mention of using rage wisely suggests a newfound empowerment and purpose in harnessing their anger for their own benefit.

The repeated plea to "say my name" emphasizes a desire for recognition and acknowledgment, possibly indicating a need for validation and identity. The refusal to settle for mere surface interactions or superficiality is highlighted by the line "I'm not talkin' stage," implying a need for genuine connection and understanding. The reassurance that they are not truly estranged but rather "deranged" speaks to the singer's self-awareness of their unconventional ways of thinking and being, suggesting a sense of defiance against societal norms.

The defiant tone continues as the singer asserts their strength and resilience against adversity. References to metaphysical concepts like being "bloomin'" after being killed twice and possessing a fiery soul despite a cold exterior in winter suggest a theme of transformation and rebirth. The declaration of being "born and raised to kill you lames" conveys a sense of inherent purpose and determination to overcome obstacles and succeed against all odds.

The intensity of the lyrics builds with the images of internal turmoil and external challenges faced by the singer. The juxtaposition of vulnerability in crying every day with the resilience to keep fighting against pain and adversity conveys a complex portrayal of inner strength and vulnerability. The defiance against giving up and the refusal to be "estranged" from their own destiny and aspirations showcases a powerful sense of agency and determination to rise above obstacles and claim their rightful place in the world. The repeated chants of "Hate me!" suggest a defiance against critics and detractors, embracing their own power and uniqueness despite external judgments and misunderstandings.

Itโ€™s never failed me yet- whenever I feel sick or even just having the blues, I turn on this song and before itโ€™s through, Iโ€™m jumping up and raising my hands and stomping my feet and tons of energy comes forth!!! Thatโ€™s what the amazing Holy Spirit does in our lives!! Just picture yourself as Lazurus and jump for joy that youโ€™re still alive!!!โค

NOBODY ย has a testimony like Lazarus. Ain't nothing that Jesus can't do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@joshuarivas985

according to the bible, Lazarus wasn't raised until 2 years later. also, in Luke 5:20 it says when Jesus saw THEIR FAITH (the men who carried the cripled man), he said man, thy sins be forgiven thee. this song is not accurate.
