Lead into Gold is considered his 'solo' side-project after he joined Ministry. Under this name he put out 2 releases, a full length called: Age of Reason (featuring his brother Roland (from the Blackouts on one track and Ministry's Al Jourgensen on another) and a CD single/12" called: Chicks & Speed: Futurism. A video for the song "Faster Than Light" was created with Jourgenson & Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails) both making an appearance, which was available on the Wax Trax! Black Box. A 12" EP titled "Low and Slow" was released roughly 25 years after recording in 2015 on Wax Trax! Records.
In 2018, "The Sun Behind The Sun" was released on the label "No, So Yes Recordings", featuring appearances by people such as Bill Rieflin (of groups Ministry, Revolting Cocks and others.) on tracks 1, 2, 6, and 8. In 2023, Paul Barker and Josh Holley (Who co-owns MALEKKO Heavy Industry with Paul) joined the Skinny Puppy final tour as an opening act on both legs of the tour.
Sweet Thirteen
Lead Into Gold Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The clumsy gait of eternity
Here as it lies
Brings a gleam to my eye
Gesture with a sweeping hand
The farthest reaches
Of what I am
The tripping, it seems to grow
Here as it lies
Brings a tear to my eye
Signal with a jerking hand
The farthest reaches
Of what I am
Give what I give
The lumbering state I seem to live
Here as it lies
Brings a mist to my eye
Beckon with a frantic hand
The farthest reaches
Of what I am
The lyrics of Lead into Gold's song Sweet Thirteen is a profound reflection on the human journey towards self-discovery and understanding. The song begins with an invitation to see beyond the present reality, to perceive the totality of existence and the continuity of time. The clumsy gait of eternity refers to the inexorable march of time, which is at once awkward and inevitable. The singer views this reality with a sense of wonder instead of despair. The farthest reaches of what I am is a reference to the unknown depths of the self and the ever-expanding universe that the singer seeks to uncover.
The next stanza of the song shifts to an introspective tone, where the singer reflects on their personal journey of growth and self-realization. The tripping seems to grow alludes to the obstacles one faces in life and how it shapes one's perspective on existence. The reflection on the self is not restricted to the present state of being, but the past as well. The farthest reaches of what I am is a reminder that every experience, every memory, shapes who we are as individuals.
The final stanza of the song speaks to the sense of purpose that emerges from self-reflection. The lumbering state I seem to live refers to the physical limitations of being human, but the invitation to give what I give, to beckon with a frantic hand, speaks to the limitless potential of the self. The farthest reaches of what I am, therefore, includes the ability to make a difference, to effect positive change in the world, and to realize one's full potential.

Killer song. The drum machine groove, sampler madness, and frayed vocals are the bomb.
