Since forming in 2007 this hard-working independent band has developed it’s own timeless rock’n’roll sound and great songs that sits them comfortably in the same stinky bandroom as such luminaries as the Replacements, Big Star, The Rolling Stones, Wilco, Flamin Groovies, Tom Petty and Danny & the Champs… and classic Australian rock’n’roll a la Sunnyboys, Celibate Rifles, Radio Birdman, Died Pretty and You Am I.

You always need a bit of history with your rock’n’roll…’ Leadfinger’ was originally a nome de plume for our main man/songwriter/guitarist/hero of the oppressed etc.etc. Stewart ‘Leadfinger’ Cunningham. After being shot by his brother in an infamous incident with an air rifle at age 14, future band mates would take to calling him ‘Leadfinger’ in jest at the bizarre air rifle injury that seemed to have influenced his heavy guitar style! After first plying his guitar-slinger trade in the late 80′s with the pre-grunge Proton Energy Pills, Cunningham headed to Sydney to play in seminal underground guitar bands – Asteroid B-612, Brother Brick and Challenger-7 – and a stint in Melbourne with The Yes-Men – all of these bands released highly sought after records in Australia and overseas and allowed Cunningham to develop his own unique songwriting style that fuses power-pop, indie, blues and rock influences. When forming LEADFINGER in 2006 as a solo project, Cunningham returned to Wollongong, recruited hometown buddies Dillon Hicks (ex Zambian Goat Herders), Reggie Screen and Michael Boyle (ex Mudlungs) to the cause and morphed the project into a classic twin guitar rock n’ roll band that will release it’s 4th album in February 2013!
How the hell did we get here?… proudly, amazingly – the 4th Leadfinger album, NO ROOM AT THE INN will be released on February 22nd through iconic Australian record label, CITADEL RECORDS – home of many of the very same bands Died Pretty, Lime Spiders, New Christs, Radio Birdman etc that are heavily imprinted on the soul of LEADFINGER. Recorded and produced by the band at Sydney’s Defwolf Studios and Leadfinger’s own Rendezvous Studio, NO ROOM AT THE INN revisits classic seventies rock (think Tom Petty, Big Star, Flamin Groovies) without forgetting the band’s seminal roots (MC5, Radio Birdman, The Saints). Eschewing modern-day gadgetry and production tricks, the band relied on vintage recording gear and great songs to create an album that could easily be mistaken for a lost seventies masterpiece.
But the fun doesn’t end there does it?… in March 2013 Leadfinger get to travel around Australia with one of the heroes of their yoof, seminal Radio Birdman songwriter/Guitarist Deniz Tek – many a night of righteous and dangerous rock’n’roll is guaranteed. So if you truly love rock’n’roll – you will be there, won’t you?

She's such a pretty thing, we love to hear her sing
They follow her around, the boys in that town
She's such a pretty thing, she's the jewel in the crown
Such a pretty girl woah oh oh oh
She's such a pretty girl, she's a diamond and a pearl
Such a pretty girl woah oh oh oh
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
It's such a pretty thing, watching her swing
She's such a pretty thing, we love to hear her sing
They follow her around all over that town
She's such a pretty thing, she's a beautiful sound
Such a pretty girl woah oh oh oh
She's such a pretty girl, she's a diamond and a pearl
Such a pretty girl woah oh oh oh
She's such a pretty girl, she's ruling my world
She's ruling my world
She's ruling my world
She's ruling my world
She's ruling my world
She's ruling your world
She's ruling your world
She rules the whole world
What's that you say, she's coming my way
I can tell her anything that I want to say
She's coming my way
She's coming my way
She's coming my way
She's coming my way
Yeah
Yeah
She's such a pretty thing, we're watching her swing
She's such a pretty thing, we're loving her thing
They follow her around, the boys in this town
She's such a pretty thing, she's wearing my ring
Such a pretty girl woah oh oh oh
She's such a pretty girl, she's a diamond and a pearl
Such a pretty girl woah oh oh oh
She's such a pretty girl, she's ruling my world
