The Leahy family did not realize; this is a Teaching Song -- much more meant for the one who suffers from the terminal disease -- not for the Caregiver.
I cannot write in third person for this next paragraphs.
Two years ago, my wife successfully beat Leukemia. During part of the treatment, all she had the strength to do, was sleep in bed. To get to the bathroom, meant the help of her Caregiver (me). She appreciated such help, but did not know how to show her appreciation.
Then, we saw the Leahy DVD. "Borrowed Time" taught her just the best way of showing her appreciation: "Sit by my side . . . everything will be all right."
These are the words a Caregiver needs to hear from the one they support.
A very strong song.

~Leahy~
Come and sit here by my side
And these tears I cannot hide
For it's your turn to move on
I know you were never really mine
You were given to me
On borrowed time
Now I shall stay here on my own
For I know you've been
Called home
Chorus
Turn out the light
And let me love you
One more night
Hold me tight
Oh baby
Tell me everything
Is gonna be alright
Now I know I must be strong
For what else can I do
Won't be easy to go on
For I must learn to live
Without you
I know that life cannot be bought
And there's nothing I should fear
For you'll go no further than God
And God is very near
Turn out the light
And let me love you
One more night
Hold me tight
Oh baby
Tell me everything
Is gonna be alright
Is gonna be alright
Now it's time to let go
It's just part of the plan
So many answers we don't know
But some day we'll understand
Someday
Turn out the light
And let me love you
One more night
Hold me tight
Oh baby
Tell me everything
Is gonna be
Alright
Turn out the light
And let me love you
One more night
Hold me tight
Oh baby
Tell me everything
Is gonna be alright
The song "Borrowed Time" by Leahy is a heartfelt ballad about letting go of a loved one who has passed away. The lyrics speak of the sadness and pain of knowing that time with this person was limited and that they have now been called home. The singer acknowledges that they were never really theirs to begin with, but were given to them for a short time on borrowed time. The lyrics suggest that the singer must now learn to live without the loved one and be strong in the face of their loss.
The chorus of the song asks for one more night of love and reassurance from the loved one, hoping to be held tight and comforted. The singer knows that life cannot be bought and that death is inevitable, but finds solace in the belief that the loved one will not go any further than God, who is always near. In the end, the singer accepts that letting go is just a part of the plan, and even though there are many questions left unanswered, someday they will understand.

You have to leave now
I know you were never really mine

You were given to me
You were a gift from above
On borrowed time

Called home
Invited to heaven
Turn out the light
Let's turn off the lights
And let me love you
Let me show you how much I love you
One more night
For one more night, let me hold you
Hold me tight
Let's embrace closely
Oh baby
My love
Tell me everything

Is gonna be alright
Everything will be okay
Now I know I must be strong

I have to keep moving forward despite the pain
Won't be easy to go on

For I must learn to live
I need to figure out how to keep going on my own
Without you
Now that you're gone
I know that life cannot be bought
I realize that life is precious and cannot be purchased
And there's nothing I should fear
I don't need to be afraid
For you'll go no further than God
You have gone to be with God and nowhere else
And God is very near
God is close and watching over us
Now it's time to let go
It's time to say goodbye
It's just part of the plan
This is all part of a bigger plan
So many answers we don't know
There are so many questions left unanswered
But some day we'll understand
We will eventually learn the reason behind our suffering
Is gonna be
Everything will be
Alright
Okay
