Light Skin Girl From London
Lenny Kravitz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And with the dog will sleep
She loves to read - she drew her feet and
She drew Jesus too
Oh Yeah
Light skin girl from London
Light skin girl from London
She'll read your hands
And take the future right outta your plans
She'll let you in, but she won't take you where she lives
Oh no, light skin girl from London
Light skin girl from London,
Yeah yeah yeah
She's got style, but all the while
She dances to the beat out of time
She often cries, and she can speak to you through her mind
Oh no no no no
Light skin girl from London
Light skin girl from London, yeah
Solo
Light skin girl from London
She's a light skin girl from London
She's a,
She's a light skin girl from London
She's a light skin girl from London, yeah yeah
She's a light skin girl from London, oh yeah yeah
She's a
The lyrics of Lenny Kravitz's song "Light Skin Girl From London" are a tribute to a woman he met in London with a unique and complete personality. The song describes her as someone who is straightforward, independent and has a clear sense of direction. She is an avid reader who likes drawing too, depicting images of Jesus as well as her own feet. The song reveals the girl's mysterious and intuitive character, who is capable of reading people's hands and predicting their future.
The girl from London is attractive, but she dances to the beat of her own drum, not caring about conventional norms. She is capable of expressing herself through tears and thoughts, but she only lets a chosen few, like Kravitz, see this side of her personality. At the end of the song, Kravitz still cannot figure her out entirely, but he finds her intriguing and captivating nonetheless.
"Light Skin Girl From London" is an insightful tribute to a unique individual with an enigmatic personality. The song celebrates individuality and independence and encourages the listener to embrace these values. However, despite the slightly mystical undertones of the song, there is a sense of reality and authenticity to it, making it one of Lenny Kravitz's most engaging and honest pieces of music.
