Hurricane
Leona Naess Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And all the things that live inside
Well I don't know what to believe
My god she's got aces up her sleeve
He's gone away like I knew he would
He's gone away like I knew he should
Tell him I am fine again
Cause we landed in another plan
And I don't know if I'll
Ever be the same
Well the world was round before I found you
The oceans a changing blue
I was always going somewhere
But I never believed it would be from you
He's gone away...
So bring back my hurricane
Tell him I am fine again
Cause we landed in another plan
And I don't know if I'll
Ever be the same
In Leona Naess's song Hurricane, the singer appears to be grappling with feelings of confusion, loss and uncertainty. Throughout the song, she repeatedly states that she doesn't know what to do with her head or what to believe. The reference to a "hurricane" seems to suggest that she is experiencing an emotional storm, with feelings like strong winds and turbulent waves. The lyrics suggest that the storm may have been caused by the departure of a significant other, whom the singer repeatedly references as "he".
The verse "Well the world was round before I found you, the oceans a changing blue/I was always going somewhere, but I never believed it would be from you" highlights the singer's sense of change, and the idea that her life before this breakup was somewhat stable and predictable. However, this relationship has introduced a new kind of chaos and upheaval, as symbolized by the hurricane.
The chorus, "bring back my hurricane/tell him I am fine again/cause we landed in another plan/ and I don't know if I'll ever be the same" perhaps suggests a desire to rekindle the relationship, but also a realization that even if this happens, things will never quite be the same again. Ultimately, Hurricane conveys a sense of emotional turmoil and uncertainty that will be relatable for many listeners.
