Fanfare
Les Avions Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Il y a des heures où l'on ne sait pas
Pourquoi ce bruit, pourquoi ces fifres
Quels sont ces serpents qui nous sifflent
Pourquoi a-a-a-a-a ça trompette dans ma tête
Yeh eh !
Hé petit prince, tu l'avais bien dit
(bis)
Laissez moi laissez-moi dormir
Non non !
Y a une fanfare
"Fanfare" is a song by Les Avions, which talks about the noisy and distracting thoughts and sounds that can interfere with a person's sleep. The song begins with the singer describing a time when the night comes alive, and there are moments when he can't understand why there are certain sounds that he hears, and why there are certain things that he feels. He feels as if there are snakes that are hissing at him, and there are horns that are blaring in his head. The fanfare that plays every night is a source of disturbance in his sleep, and he seems helpless in controlling it.
The song continues with the singer talking about the various things that he hears when he's trying to sleep. He refers to a concert of klaxons in his bedroom, and a big band that's playing loudly in his attic. He even hears elephants trumpeting, causing him to feel frustrated and restless. He asks himself why this fanfare is only playing songs of sadness and tragedy, as if he is being reminded of all the negative things around him.
The song ends with the singer pleading to be left alone to sleep, while the fanfare continues to play in his head. He seems to accept that it's a part of his reality, and he resigns himself to the fact that he has no control over this internal chaos.
