Levi began to make his imprint on the Nashville community through regular co-writes with his father, Marcus Hummon (Grammy Award winning songwriter), and a regular rotation of writers who would join them. Levi loved relating to a listener through the stories he could craft. It wasnβt long before word spread of Leviβs talents, and he found himself writing with the greats such as 2014 ACM Songwriter of the Year Shane MacAnally, Andrew Dorff, Josh Osborne, Jonathan Singleton, Nathan Barlowe Brandy Clark, Trevor Rosen among others, and of course, Marcus Hummon. Learning to always bring in his own ideas and point of view to a writing session, Levi quickly streamlined his unique style. βYouβre letting someone into your world which is really vulnerable,β says Levi. βI write from a reflective & personal place and ultimately I couldnβt see anyone else singing these songs.β
As a member of a multi-generational music family, Levi Hummon certainly appreciates his roots. While Levi is very much his own person & artist, he strongly values giving credit where it is due β and he finds himself fortunate to have his family be part of his journey. In addition to his fatherβs musical foundation, Levi draws inspiration from his mother, Becca Stevens, who founded the socially conscious & philanthropic organization, Thistle Farms (a residential program and social enterprise made up of women who have survived prostitution, trafficking, and addiction). This became a natural place for Levi to become involved where he further witnessed how music can provide a healing effect to those whom have suffered tremendously. βThistle farms has always been a family to me,β says Levi. βThere is so much knowledge to gain from spending time with the women. It makes me want to always forgive, never take anything for granted, and love everyone.β
Continuing to develop his personal sound, Levi found himself in great company while in Nashville. Marcus and Becca casually had their friend and Hall of Fame Songwriter, Desmond Child over for dinner, where Levi played a few songs. Desmondβs reaction was profound and immediate β he insisted on working with Levi. Soon after, Leviβs tune βMake it Love,β was featured in Childβs film, Two: The Story of Roman & Nero, which appeared on the short list of nominations for the Oscarβs βBest Original Songβ. That was just the beginning for Levi. With overwhelming support from Nashvilleβs music community, Levi signed with Fletcher Fosterβs new management and entertainment company, Iconic Entertainment Group.
Levi has recently signed with The Valory Music Co (Big Machine Record Label) artist roster, which includes Reba, Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert, Thomas Rhett, The Mavericks & RaeLynn. βAs our Country format ebbs and flows, itβs always so important from an A&R perspective to look past whatβs happening now and make some moves on the future direction,β said BMLG President & CEO Scott Borchetta. βLeviβs unique vision and incredible artistry is exactly the kind of musical move we want to make now. This is a very significant artist signing.β Levi Hummon is currently writing and recording for his first full-length album.

In Levi Hummon's song "Earthquake," the lyrics delve into the emotional aftermath of a breakup. The narrative suggests that the singer is in a bar, possibly drowning his sorrows, when he thinks he hears his ex-lover laughing. However, the darkness of the bar prevents him from confirming if she is actually there. The sound of a familiar song playing stirs up memories, emphasizing the connection between the song and their relationship, leading him to request for it to be turned off.
The chorus of the song expresses the intense impact of heartbreak, comparing it to an earthquake. Each time something reminds him of his ex, it feels like the ground shaking beneath him. The pain becomes so overwhelming that he attempts to numb it with alcohol, but the attempt usually results in consuming more drinks. These actions emphasize the desperation to escape the ache caused by the breakup.
The third verse suggests that the blame should not be solely placed on the singer but rather acknowledges the complex dynamics between the two individuals. The fault lines between them make it difficult for both parties to move on and start anew. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the emotional turmoil experienced by the singer, questioning why heartbreak feels like a seismic event.
Overall, "Earthquake" explores the aftermath of a breakup, depicting the profound impact it has on the singer's emotional well-being. The lyrics delve into the struggle to let go, the pain of being reminded of the past, and the attempt to cope with the heartache.
