Knights and Week Ends
Light Asylum Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Never see this same face
Ever again
Leave it to her
To rip out your heart
Leave it on the floor
I need a stripper
To give us some more
I need a stripper
To leave on the floor
Baby
Give us a kiss
You think I'm a whore
I think you're a whore
Get out of my face
Get into my car
Get into this place
We could be friends
Knights and weekends
We could be lovers
Baby
Laying hands on you
We're laying hands on you
The lyrics to Light Asylum's song "Knights and Weekends" are open to interpretation, but they convey a sense of longing, dissatisfaction, and desire all at once. The song seems to be about feeling trapped and wanting to escape, from a place or a person. There is a desire to be free from something that is oppressive and draining, something that has caused heartbreak and pain. The line "leave it to her to rip out your heart, leave it on the floor" suggests a betrayal by someone trusted, a wound that has not yet healed.
The lines "I need a stripper to give us some more, baby" seem to come out of left field, but they may represent a desire for excitement and danger, something to break the monotony of everyday life. The mention of a stripper and being left on the floor suggests a wild night of partying and indulgence. The lines "you think I'm a whore, I think you're a whore" could be interpreted as a push and pull dynamic of attraction and repulsion between two people, who may be drawn to each other but who are wary of getting too close.
The chorus, with its repetitive "we could be friends, we could be lovers, baby," suggests a yearning for connection and intimacy, while the lines "laying hands on you, we're laying hands on you" could be interpreted as a plea for physical contact and affection. Overall, "Knights and Weekends" is a song about feeling trapped in a situation that is stifling and wanting to break free, to find some kind of escape or respite.
