When Lil B titled his last digital label released mixtape I'm Gay, he received several death threats. Although he is heterosexual, he says the title is a message of support to the LGBT community. Referring to the alternative definition of gay, he says he is gay because he is happy. Following the death threats, he added "I'm Happy" in parenthesis to the album's title. I'm Gay received positive reviews with many fans commenting on the album's wide variety of positive messages and noting the unique beats and lyrical styles not common to mainstream hip hop. He raps about many controversial issues including race relations, poverty, humanity, and the justice system. The album also, according to many fans, shows the "true" side of Lil B. It entered the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart at #56 and the Heatseekers Albums chart at #20 for the week of July 16, 2011. It is for sale on iTunes but Lil B also uploaded it to the Internet for free, posting a link to it on Twitter and Facebook saying, "for all my fans who don't have $10 to buy my album, here it is for free."
Lil B typically releases at least one mixtape every month; so far in 2012 he has released 13 mixtapes - 4 in July alone. One of those released in July was the massive 848-song, nearly 5GB collection of Based Freestyles, which is his largest release to date. In 2013, hip-hop listeners voted Lil B as the greatest rapper of all time.

At this free throw line, dude
I better not miss this shit neither
I've been practicing way too much for this shit
I'm at the free throw, see me at the free throw x3 24 shots, I'm balling like the East Coast
At the free throw, see me at the free throw x3 25 shots, I'm balling like the West Coast
Won 30 games, and that ain't enough
I'm trynna clean up your office, get more offense
Got players, that don't call charges
The refs in the game better play they role
Step on my line, and that boy gotta go
Shout out Saint Mary's and Treaven
I got varsity bitches, just repping
Step out the gym, with that new paint
Bitches love that, THEY WANNA FUCK ME!
Hoop Life, man, they love me
Lil B, I'm trynna touch rims
I got 3 point, with that 2-step
Cut it out, one-on-one, I'ma suit up
All the cheerleaders, wanna choose up
In the locker room, boy, we be juiced up
I'm at the free throw, see me at the free throw x3 24 shots, I'm balling like the East Coast
At the free throw, see me at the free throw x3 25 shots, I'm balling like the West Coast
Throw up the ball, what you doing, bitch?
Quit ball-hogging, bitch, pass the ball, trick
I just got a offer for a shoe deal
I want a couple mil, and that's before the deal
Catch me on the hoop court
West Oakland, playing ball at Mosswood
You don't know 'bout that, you ain't 'bout that
You ain't 'bout that life, where your shorts at?
You're talking that shit, where the court at?
You're down 10 points, where your score at?
You got them handles, but you're looking sloppy
Come in my lane, you're getting blocked, G
Come down my lane, you're getting chopped
Man, who gon' win March Madness?
All the colleges say I'm Pete Sampras
Everybody think that I'm Pete Sampras!
I'm at the free throw, see me at the free throw x 3 24 shots, I'm balling like the East Coast
The lyrics to Lil B's song At The Freethrow revolve around his passion for basketball and his pursuit of excellence on the court. He starts with expressing his desire to play basketball and score at the free throw line. He talks about his practice sessions and how he can't afford to miss any shots.
Lil B then talks about his love for the game and how he is balling like the East Coast and West Coast with 24 and 25 shots respectively. He talks about his ambition to win the playoffs, clean up his office, and improve his offense. He believes that he has the right players on his team who don't call charges.
Lil B then talks about how he expects the referees to play their role during the game and not cross his line. He credits Saint Mary's and Treaven for their support and mentions how he has varsity girls repping for him. Lil B then talks about how he loves the hoop life and how he has a 3-point shot with that 2-step.
In the second verse, Lil B calls out other basketball players for not living up to expectations and playing sloppy. He talks about how he has a shoe deal offer and how he wants a couple of million dollars for the deal. Lil B then mentions his favorite basketball court in West Oakland and how he dominates on it. He concludes the song by talking about his love for college basketball and how everyone thinks that he is Pete Sampras.
