When Lil B titled his last digital label released mixtape I'm Gay, he received several death threats. Although he is heterosexual, he says the title is a message of support to the LGBT community. Referring to the alternative definition of gay, he says he is gay because he is happy. Following the death threats, he added "I'm Happy" in parenthesis to the album's title. I'm Gay received positive reviews with many fans commenting on the album's wide variety of positive messages and noting the unique beats and lyrical styles not common to mainstream hip hop. He raps about many controversial issues including race relations, poverty, humanity, and the justice system. The album also, according to many fans, shows the "true" side of Lil B. It entered the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart at #56 and the Heatseekers Albums chart at #20 for the week of July 16, 2011. It is for sale on iTunes but Lil B also uploaded it to the Internet for free, posting a link to it on Twitter and Facebook saying, "for all my fans who don't have $10 to buy my album, here it is for free."
Lil B typically releases at least one mixtape every month; so far in 2012 he has released 13 mixtapes - 4 in July alone. One of those released in July was the massive 848-song, nearly 5GB collection of Based Freestyles, which is his largest release to date. In 2013, hip-hop listeners voted Lil B as the greatest rapper of all time.

Oh let me clear my throat real quick man
They still tryna front you know
What i'm saying
Drive slow my mind feel like it's moving blow
The drugs make me die quicker
Than I ever know
Moving like an actor trying
To score some coke
Memories in music, that's all I know
Keep pushing the corner
Half a million on the corner home
I'm just talking about that fly shit
You all alone, niggas trying to fire niggas
Build a couple jobs, we be hiring niggas
Big moth on the wall, i'm a fly nigga (Pow)
Put you suckers in the air, you a fly nigga
I believe I can fly
Believe you can die nigga
Best believe the only money on the other side
Can't duck and hide (Naw)
Based who wants war, I want peace
I'm not ashamed to say that
Riding around San Jose in the
Back of the Maybach
I'm still going to Stockton
Catch me on the corner
Sit back and relax, nigga imma
I'm a stoner, I said i'm a stoner
Shout out to Berkeley telegraph
Shout out to San Francisco the mission
Yeah i'm on the mission street in
San Francisco living my life
Then i hit up Berkeley telegraph
To spice it up
Then you might catch me at Fremont on the low
I'm talking about low (yeah)
Hunchback of BasedGod
In Lil B's song "Back of the Maybach," the lyrics touch on various themes including the artist's mindset, drug use, personal success, and his connection to certain locations.
The first part of the lyrics talks about how others still try to underestimate or deceive Lil B, hence the phrase "They still tryna front." Lil B then clears his throat, signaling that he is about to speak his truth and assert himself.
The following lines suggest that Lil B's mind is in a state of both fast-paced and slow-moving thoughts due to the influence of drugs. This could refer to a heightened mental state brought on by substances, which can sometimes lead to adverse consequences and a shorter lifespan. Despite this, Lil B believes that he has the potential to achieve success, as indicated by the line "acting like I wouldn't blow." He compares himself to an actor looking for cocaine, possibly in reference to the allure and dangers of fame.
The lyrics then transition into a reflection on Lil B's past and how music is his primary focus. He mentions the large sum of money he has on the corner, suggesting financial success. Lil B asserts himself as someone who appreciates luxury and is confident in his status as a "fly nigga," someone who stands out and commands attention. He also mentions the desire for peace but acknowledges that he won't back down from anyone who wants war. The lyrics then mention Lil B riding around San Jose in the back of a Maybach, indicating a symbol of wealth and success.
In the next paragraph, Lil B gives shoutouts to specific locations. Berkeley Telegraph and San Francisco's Mission Street are mentioned, suggesting that he frequents these areas and enjoys the different experiences they offer. Telegraph in Berkeley is known for its vibrant cultural scene, while Mission Street in San Francisco is famous for its eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. Lil B also mentions Fremont, possibly indicating that he enjoys going there discreetly or under the radar.
The final line, "Hunchback of BasedGod," is an intriguing phrase that represents Lil B's identification with his alter ego and the spiritual philosophy he promotes as the "BasedGod." It signifies his unique persona and serves as a self-empowerment symbol for his fans. This line, along with the rest of the lyrics, showcases Lil B's confidence, resilience, and the experience-driven lifestyle he embodies.
