Lost Boy
Lil Cogar Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There was a time when I was alone
Nowhere to go and no place to call home
My only friend was the man in the moon
And even sometimes he would go away too
Then one night, as I closed my eyes,
I saw a shadow flying high
He came to me with the sweetest smile
Told me he wanted to talk for awhile
He said, "Peter Pan. That′s what they call me.
I promise that you'll never be lonely."
And ever since that day...
I am a lost boy from Neverland
Usually hanging out with Peter Pan
And when we′re bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy," they say to meeeeee,
"Away from all of realityyyyyy."
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free

Imagine being so steadily abused you have no
Outlets and you feel like there's nothing left to you
You feel like everyday is just a god forsaken one People always
Looking at you like you're some type of fun but you always constantly
Think about a goddamn gun right to the temple or your forehead make
Sure that you′re dead and have the fucking walls blood red
Just Like Kurt Cobain′s head when he took that shot gun man
But I feel like a lost boy getting fucked up in this lost world with
These lost toys trying to tell me how to fuck to live my life I don't
Feel right. I feel like I am just suicidal almost every goddamn night
There ain′t nothing left but the drugs going in inside of my system
Making me feel like I should just be kicking back and reminiscing on
The good old days before I felt this way
And before I felt like I was constantly in pain
But they say uhh

I am a lost boy from Neverland Usually hanging out with Peter Pan And
When we're bored we play in the
Woods Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy," they say to me, "Away from all of reality."
Neverland is home to lost boys like me And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me And lost boys like me are free

See and Neverland used to be a place that I called home
It was San Francisco that was my only way to go but constantly I was
Getting messed up with the wrong crowd shooting
Up heroin just to feel like I was something proud
But I wasn′t proud of my life I wasn't making no sacrifice I had
Nothing in my life and I felt like it
Wasn′t going right and I just had my wife
That had left me for a another guy and now
I'm feeling like I don't understand why but

I am a lost boy from Neverland Usually hanging out with Peter Pan And
When we′re bored we play in the
Woods Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost booooyyy,
" They say to me, "Away from all of realityyyyyy."
Neverland is home to lost boys like me And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me And lost boys like me are free
And lost boys like me are free

To all the homies we lost.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Lil Cogar's song Lost Boy describe a feeling of loneliness, despair and a desire for escape. The singer seems to be reflecting on a past where they had nowhere to go and nobody to turn to. Their only friend was the "man in the moon" who sometimes went away too, leaving them completely alone. However, the singer's life changes when they meet Peter Pan, who promises that they will never be lonely. The singer becomes a "lost boy" and Neverland becomes their home where they are always on the run from Captain Hook, but free from reality.

The second verse seems to be more personal to Lil Cogar, as he describes his own experiences with substance abuse and feeling lost. He references Kurt Cobain's suicide and contemplates the idea of using a gun to end his own life. Lil Cogar acknowledges that he feels like he is constantly in pain and that drugs are the only escape he has. But then he reiterates the refrain, "I am a lost boy from Neverland...and lost boys like me are free". It seems as though he still clings onto the hope that he can escape his pain and find freedom.

Overall, the lyrics to Lost Boy convey a sense of longing for escape and freedom from pain. The theme of being a "lost boy" is used as a metaphor for feeling lost in one's own life, and searching for a way out.
