Such a beautiful mantra. I sing it with my five year old daughter every evening before bed. I find she will sing it to herself sometimes during the day while she plays with her toys and it seems to bring her so much peace.

I think the most important thing about mantra's is that you can do themself, and the number of repetitions is not as important as your focus and concentration beeing in your heart when you do the oooooooo vowel. I've read: ooooooooooooo for the heart. aaaaaaaaa for the lungs. iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii for the head. uuuuuuuuuu for the solar plexus. eeeeeeeeee for the throat. Try those vowels and concentrate on each corresponding centre :)

Yes, I just ran across it...called Deity Yoga...practiced with the deity you feel closest to...or that you can most fully emulate. The book I read, called Introduction to Tantra by Kama Yeshe basically says you should be practicing Guru Yoga...and begin Deity Yoga with your guru's guidance.

This is the Compassion Mantra, not joy mantra.The Green Tara mantra is not "secret" at all. It is also not at all as given, but "Om Tare tuttare ture svaha (or 'soha' in Tibetanized Sanskrt)." It means: "Behold, in She Who Delivers, in Your Grace, please deliver (us), peace." Svaha is the "activation" bija mantra syllable, called "vahnijaya" or "conveyor of victory." Green is not considered to include all other colors in Tibet. Green is this Tara's color because she is a manifestation of the Buddha of Compassion, Avalokitesvara. THere are 5 Dhyana Buddha in Vajrayana Buddhism, which represent the 5 Buddha Kula, or Buddha families. Each person,according to their individual persona, has an affinity with one of the five Buddha families, which is determined in the "dropping the petal on the mandala" rite. THe 5 colors of the prayer flags in TIbet stant for the 5 Buddha Kula, or the 5 aspects of Bodhi in the world. Green is the color of propserity and compassion. Blue is the Buddha, Yellow are the Teachings, White is Primordial Bodhi, Red is Action and the Actor (combined in Ratnasambhava and Amoghasiddhi). None of the information given about Tara in the blurb by the poster is correct.
