Confessions
Lilith Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
[Lyrics by: Marcelo T.]
...I've died in the deepest if my abstract mind
Acknowledged a way to follow
I've died again and again
Countless times like the stars in a dark shy...
Lord of the Abyss...
The lyrics to Lilith's song Confessions are quite intense and poetic. The first two lines depict the surreal state of mind of the singer who has delved too deep into her own thoughts and has experienced death in her mind's abstract realm. This can be interpreted as a metaphor for her emotional or mental state. She has acknowledged a way to follow, which can be understood as her having found a way to navigate through her own thoughts or her own darkness. In the second stanza, the repetition of the phrase "I've died again and again" conveys a sense of despair and hopelessness that the singer is experiencing. The use of the simile "Countless times like the stars in a dark sky" is a beautiful way of expressing the magnitude of her suffering. Stars in the dark sky are countless and infinite, and similarly, the suffering of the singer seems boundless and immense.
The last line of the song "To give myself to you, Lord of the Abyss" can be interpreted in different ways. The Lord of the Abyss can either be a reference to Satan, the devil, or can be symbolic of a powerful force, emotion or person that the singer is surrendering herself to. This could be seen as a form of sacrifice or an act of complete surrender to the abyss, the void or the darkness. The use of the word "confessions" in the title may suggest that the song is an honest portrayal of the singer's innermost thoughts and emotions, which she may be sharing with someone or something that she trusts.
