Moments
Link Lewis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In the sun
We're the shimmer on the ocean
In the air
We are the breeze that blows the trees
On the road
We're the moments of slow motion
On the path
We're are the crunchin' of the leaves

In sight
We're far away now
But in heart
We're still so close

Though you can't see me, I'm still awake
There's a reason it feels I was there only yesterday
An invisible reflection
An unbreakable connection
Yes, we live, then we die, it's the circle of life
But we're still with you inside
When we're inside with you
Yes, we live, then we die, it's the circle of life
But we're still with you inside

When it rains
We can see you through the window
On the beach
You imprint us with your feet
When you're warm
We're the cold part of the pillow
And when you're cold
We're the creaking of your knees

In sight (please, just believe we're calling)
We're far away now (please, just believe we're calling)
But in heart (please, just believe we're calling)
We're still so close (please, just believe we're calling)

Though you can't see me, I'm still awake (please, just believe we're calling)
There's a reason it feels I was there only yesterday (please, just believe we're calling)
An invisible reflection
An unbreakable connection
Yes, we live, then we die, it's the circle of life
But we're still with you inside (please, just believe we're calling)
When we're inside with you (please, just believe we're calling)
Yes, we live, then we die, it's the circle of life
But we're still with you inside

Please just believe we're calling
Please just believe we're calling

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of “Moments” by Link Lewis describe the idea of being present even when one is not physically there. The song is a testament to how connections can outlast physical presence, and how memories and relationships stay with us long after the people who made them are gone. The lines "Though you can't see me, I'm still awake/There's a reason it feels I was there only yesterday" express the sentiment that the connections we form with others do not disappear just because they are not present anymore, and that the memories we hold of them can be just as powerful and meaningful as the moments we shared.

The song's use of imagery creates a sense of relationship as not just a personal connection but also something greater such as the relationship with nature. The lines "In the sun we're the shimmer on the ocean/In the air we are the breeze that blows the trees" show how the lyricist perceives their presence to be something that exists in everything around us. By using this imagery, there is a sense of continuity and timelessness that makes the message more universal and relevant.

The song seems to be a reflection on how the memories of someone can live on forever, and how they can be felt even when they are not physically present. It encourages the listener to trust in the power of memory and connection, and to believe that even when people are gone, they are still somehow with us. Whether it is through nature or an unbreakable connection, the song reminds us that sometimes the most important things in life are the moments we share with those we love.

Broken-hearted Music Lover

This is one of the most beautifully crafted songs that I have ever heard and your voice and sincerity are breathtaking. Yesterday I went for an ultrasound at 9 weeks pregnant and received the devastating news that there is no longer a heartbeat. This morning, I force myself into the shower and ask Spotify to play me some random playlist for “Saturday Coffee” to distract me…and this is the first song to play. Needless to say it floored me but also brought me comfort in equal measure. Thank you, this song will forever have a special place in our lives! x
