In My Remains
Linkin Park Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Separate, sifting through the wreckage
I can't concentrate, searching for a message
In the fear and pain, broken down and waiting
For the chance to feel alive

Now in my remains
Are promises that never came
Set this silence free
To wash away the worst of me

Come apart, falling in the cracks
Of every broken heart, digging through the wreckage
Of your disregard, sinking down and waiting
For the chance, to feel alive

Now in my remains
Are promises that never came
Set this silence free
To wash away the worst of me

Like an army, falling
One by one by one
Like an army, falling
One by one by one
Like an army, falling
One by one by one
Like an army, falling
One by one by one

Now in my remains
Are promises that never came
Set this silence free
To wash away the worst of me

Like an army, falling
One by one by one

Like an army, falling
One by one by one

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Linkin Park’s song "In My Remains" seem to be about someone who is struggling to deal with a past that has left them broken and searching for something to hold onto. The person who is singing the lyrics seems to be sifting through the wreckage of their life, unable to concentrate or find a message that offers them some hope or guidance. In their fear and pain, they are waiting for a chance to feel alive again.

Now in my remains
Our promises that never came
Except this silent rain
To wash away the worst of me

These lines seem to suggest that the person has been let down by someone they trusted, perhaps a lover or a friend, who made promises that were never kept. The “silent rain” may represent the tears that the person has shed over this betrayal, or it might be a metaphor for the cleansing process that needs to happen in order for the person to move on and feel alive again.

The chorus of the song, with the repeated line “Like an army, falling one by one by one,” seems to be a way of expressing the feeling of being overwhelmed by one’s problems, but also of finding solace in the fact that they are not alone in their suffering. The bluesy, melancholic melody adds to the sense of resignation and sadness that permeates the song.

@siulong1394

I've been ditched for someone else few weeks ago. I'm recovering but I can't stop thinking about her.
And since one week, this song keeps coming up in my mind.
Right now I feel like I can relate a lot to the first part of this song:
"Separate
Sifting through the wreckage
I can't concentrate
Searching for a message
In the fear and pain
Broken down and waiting
For the chance to feel alive
Now in my remains
Are promises that never came
Set the silence free
To wash away the worst of me"

I don't really imagine how you cannot like this song, I mean, I can somehow understand why people love other songs and identify something that pleases everyone, but this is a masterpiece and no one cares, feels bad. I mean, the lyrics, the melody, the feelings, this song got everything and still not as popular as even other Linkin Park songs. Ill keep searching for more again, Burn it down in my remains
