Lisa’s first contribution to the Naked sound was “You are Love” by Lovetronic and after many collaborations with Naked artists and producers - Blue Six, Central Living, Petalpusher, Aquanote - she signed as a solo artist in 2001. Her debut single for Naked Music was the worldwide underground classic “Always”.
Lisa has received rave reviews and features in The New York Times, CMJ, Muzik, URB, The Canadian National Post, Billboard, XLR8R and many others. She has also performed live on The David Letterman Show as a backing vocalist for Jewel. Madonna paid tribute to “Always” in Rolling Stones and proclaimed Lisa to be “So Cool!”
Throughout her career, she's played and recorded in a diverse range of musical styles, ranging from deep house, avant-garde hip-hop, trip-hop, acoustic soul and drum and bass. She also performed live at the Prohibited Beatz party with Nerve, a fusion band led by drummer/producer Jojo Mayer where Takuya Nakamura (Organic Grooves/Ism), Tim Lefevbre and DJ Swingsett also appeared. Lisa has also collaborated with Itaal Shur, Lucy Woodward & Mark Anthony Jones.
Over the last three years Lisa has performed live throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and the US with label-mate Miguel Migs, as well as working on her debut solo album with producers Eric Stamile (Speakeasy), Jay Denes (Blue Six) and co-writer Dave Warrin. This is scheduled to be released the summer of 2005. She is currently putting together a live outfit called Pedal Pusher with Miguel Migs for touring next year, but will continue to do her live PAs with Miguel as well.
There are many new projects and collaborations in store for Lisa over the next few years. Much, much more music to come.
Let It Ride
Lisa Shaw Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So clear.
So Clear to me...
Took so long to find out, all the things that happened all around you.
Thought you could see, eventhough it was clear to me.
Tomorrow's a new day, free from all the things that you didn't say.
Better things comin, learn to let it go sometimes.
So Clear...
You want to put it all behind.
Missing something.
Searchin' for the strength inside.
Finding a new way, I am here to show you my way.
Better things coming, so learn to let it go sometime.
When it all comes down let it ride.
When it all comes down let it ride.
When it all comes down let it ride.
When it all comes down let it ride.
So Clear. (Lalala-laa) Hopeful you seem.
You want to put it all behind.
Missing something.
Searching for the strength inside.
Finding a new way.
I am here to show you my way.
Batter things coming.
So learn to let it go sometime.
When it all comes down let it ride.
The lyrics of Lisa Shaw's song "Let It Ride" convey a message of resilience and embracing change. The song seems to address someone who has been through a tough situation but has not yet come to terms with it. The singer acknowledges that it took a while for the person to realize what happened around them and that they thought they could see even though it was clear to the singer. However, the singer offers resilience and hope for the person. They recognize that the person wants to put the past behind and is searching for the strength inside. The singer is there to show them a new way and encourages them to learn to "let it go."
The lyrics suggest that tomorrow is a new day, free from the baggage of the past, and better things are coming. The repetition of "when it all comes down let it ride" emphasizes the idea of embracing change and allowing things to take their natural course. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer repeating the phrase "so clear" and affirming the person's hopeful outlook.
Overall, the lyrics of "Let It Ride" are about accepting change, letting go of the past, and looking forward to better things. The song offers hope and encouragement to those who may be struggling to move on from a difficult situation.
