I Should Of Known
Little Birdy Lyrics

Anything worth waiting for?
Tear my heart
Tear my heart so it's on the floor
I should of known with you
I should of known with you
Better than that
It's too late
It's too late to not let you down
And your suitcase
It is lying near the heart you stole
I should of known with you
I should of known with you
Better than that
But it's all that you left
But it's all that you left
It's too late,
I can't love you now
But it's all that you left
But it's all that you left
It's too late
I should of known with you
I should of known with you
Better than that
But you, you burnt a hole
Burnt a hole in my heart
Disarm, and let it slide
I won't be the one you want
If lazy love will not help my aching bones
It's too late
The patient man quietly awaits
And your suitcase
It is lying near the heart you stole
I should of known with you
I should of known with you
Better than that
But you, you burnt a hole
Burnt a hole in my heart
Disarm, and let it slide
I won't be the one you want
If lazy love will not help my aching bones
In "I Should Of Known", Little Birdy provides listeners with a haunting reflection on the realization that a relationship has gone sour. The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, as the singer asks their partner if they have anything worth waiting for, suggesting that the relationship is lacking in substance. The second line, "Tear my heart so it's on the floor", implies that the singer has been hurt by their partner and that their heart is in pieces.
In the chorus, the singer repeats "I should have known with you..." suggesting that there were warning signs they ignored, and that they knew deep down that their partner was not good for them. The phrase "But it's all that you left" implies that their partner has left them with nothing but heartbreak and regret.
In the second verse, the singer realizes that it is too late to salvage the relationship, and that their partner's suitcase "is lying near the heart you stole". The final verse discusses the singer's attempts to move on from the heartbreak, suggesting that they have been burned by their experiences and that they cannot continue to love their partner in light of their actions.
Overall, "I Should Of Known" is a poignant and melancholic reflection on the realization that a relationship has run its course. Little Birdy's lyrics convey a sense of sadness and regret, showcasing the band's ability to create emotive and relatable music.

Lyrics:
Little birdie, why do you fly upside-down?
It's amazing at the way you get around
Little birdie, why you worry like you do?
Don't you worry, you just do what you can do
Little birdie, things just fascinate you so
And your friend there likes to show you what he knows
Little birdie, he don't mind the way he should
He needs watching, that's when you know he'll be good
Little birdie, can't your friend do nothin' right?
It just seems now all he wants to do is fight
Little birdie, look at what he's trying to do
It's so easy, yet he don't know what to do
