The group had three hits: the first and biggest was the nostalgic tune "Those Oldies but Goodies (Remind Me of You)", a #9 Pop and #28 R&B hit in 1961. The follow-up, "Hully Gully Again", hit #54, and subsequent release "Memories of those Oldies but Goodies" Bubbled Under at #101. They also released a full-length album on Del-Fi Records.
The group's live act sometimes included wearing togas on stage. They broke up in 1962, at least partly due to an argument between lead singer Carl Barnett and member David Johnson (who performed the spoken-word portion of "Those Oldies but Goodies") as to which of them was Little Caesar.

Well now see, see what you have done.
Well now see, C. C. Rider,
Well now see, see what you have done.
Well you made me love you woman,
Now your man has come.
So I'm goin' away now, baby
I'm goin' away now baby
And I won't be back till Fall,
Just might find me a good girl
Might not be comin' back at all.
Well now see, C. C. Rider,
See now the moon is shining bright,
Well now see, C. C. Rider,
See now the moon is shining bright,
Just might find me that good girl
And everything would be alright.
The lyrics to Little Caesar & The Romans's song C.C. Rider is a classic blues tale about a man who has been jilted by his woman, who left him for someone else. The song's mood is melancholic as the singer is lamenting his situation. He addresses C.C. Rider, who is the singer or central character of the song as he expresses his disappointment, regret, and anger. He blames C.C. for his situation, suggesting that she is to blame for his heartbreak. He is going away for a while and might not come back, primarily because he might find someone new while he's away. He is hopeful that he will find a new love and that everything will turn out okay.
The song's lyrics signify the struggles of love and relationships, making it a relatable classic. The lyricist uses simple language and repetition to emphasize the theme of heartbreak and hope. The melancholic tune that accompanies the lyrics further adds to the song's mood, creating a powerful blend of music and lyrics that has endured over the years.
