He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 3, 1986, to Robin Polite and Lloyd Polite Sr. His father died when he was at the age of two, and he moved with his mother and older sister Brandy to Atlanta, Georgia.
Lloyd was discovered by Joyce Irby in 1996 and at the age of 14 was in the pre-teen group N-Toon, alongside younger brother Chuckie. The group won Nickelodeon's cancelled show Double Dare 2000 against No Authority, and the group was signed to DreamWorks Records. Although two singles were released ("Ready" and "Shoulda Been My Girl"), their debut album Toon Time went unnoticed due to a lack of promotion from the label. The group eventually disbanded, and Lloyd began shopping around for a solo deal. He was soon signed to MCA Records with his first single to be "Young Girl". Unfortunately, as MCA Records dissolved into its parent company, Geffen Records, many of the artists on its roster were let go, including Lloyd. However, using "Young Girl" as a demo, he landed a new recording contract with Irv Gotti at The Inc./Def Jam Records.
"Southside", a duet with label mate Ashanti, became Lloyd's debut single and an R&B hit. The video was number one on BET's 106 & Park, where Lloyd and Ashanti performed the song live. The follow-up single was "Hey Young Girl", which wasn't as successful as "Southside". His childhood friend Ciara was in the video, and he is in the video of her hit "1, 2 Step". Both singles appeared on his 2004 debut album, titled Southside, which performed relatively poorly. A third single was never announced. After that, Lloyd appeared singing hooks on singles for label mate Ja Rule on "Caught Up" as well as on rapper Tango Redd's "Let's Cheat". He also made an appearance in R&B singer Sammie's video "You Should Be My Girl".
In 2006, a newly-recorded track titled "You" surfaced, featuring Lil Wayne (an alternate version featured Tango Redd). The single gained airplay on BET Late and it was #1 on 106 & Park. Lloyd's second studio album, titled Street Love, was released on March 13, 2007. The second single "Get It Shawty" was also very successful, reaching the top twenty on the pop charts. By the time the third single "Player's Prayer" was released, interest in the album had diminished. and with lack of promotion the song proved to be unsuccessful.
Lloyd's third album Lessons in Love was released in August 2008. The song "How We Do It (Around My Way)" was promoted as a single in early 2008, but only appeared on select versions of the album. "Girls Around the World" was the next single, another collaboration with Lil Wayne.
Lloyd has made guest appearances on television shows, most notably on the hit show One On One, an episode of Wild 'N Out on June 21, 2007 and on a show called Gotti's Way on VH-1. In an interview Lloyd indicated that he has about twenty tattoos, which include a picture of his father, the logo of his company Young Goldie Music and a "rebel baby angel".
2. Lloyd was a Christian modern rock/pop group who blended vocals with acoustic and electric guitars. Lloyd was formed when two original members of the rock/funk/pop group "Imagine This" teamed up with a new guitarist (who also was with I.T. for a time) and bassist to form Lloyd. The name change is necessary as Lloyd strays quite a distance from the Imagine This.

Make way! there's a scholar in the house,
Boy Sway, UK, change dollars into pounds,
Lloyd's on the track, noise from the back,
When you're out, makin' money,
They holla from the house ?
Yeah, so holla I'm about,
'Specially if they wanna know
I'm in the 'A',
Shawty telling me she love the ass and,
In the UK,
Shawty telling me she want the action,
[Verse 1:]
First off let me mention I've been missing,
But I'm back on the scene,
UK in the building, You can feel it,
'Cause the swagger is mean,
We the ones that made ya snap ya fingers,
And get on the floor,
And now the king is back,
Yeah I'm a show you how it goes
[Chorus:]
If you girls get down on the floor,
Bet'cha I can make lil' mamma get low,
You see round here, we got that game
And anything else has gotta go,
We're poppin' bottles, got them models,
Making it rain up in the club,
And no this ain't no game,
That's just how we do it in the UK
Yeah I know you miss it,
So I'm a make you feel it,
There ain't no other way,
That's just how we do it In The UK,
Get wild, get crunk, get low,
Everybody get on the floor,
Put 'em down, I'm a make you say,
That's just how we do it In The UK
[Verse 2:]
I hit the club, it's 3 AM,
So time to get this started,
No disrespect, lil' mamma,
I'm tipsy from that other party,
For all ya haters on me,
Order yourself a drink,
When you get this here, I'm a make it clear,
My level can't be reached!
[Chorus:]
If you girls get down on the floor,
Bet'cha I can make lil' mamma get low,
You see round here, we got that game
And anything else has gotta go,
We're poppin' bottles, got them models,
Making it rain up in the club,
And no this ain't no game,
That's just how we do it in the UK
Yeah I know you miss it,
So I'm a make you feel it,
There ain't no other way,
That's just how we do it In The UK,
Get wild, get crunk, get low,
Everybody get on the floor,
Put 'em down, I'm a make you say,
That's just how we do it In The UK
[Verse 3: Sway]
They wanna know how we do it,
Well this is how we do,
Heathrow Airport, terminal two,
Collect all your luggage,
Lookin' all brand new,
Yeah I make a lot of pounds
But I count pennies too,
Yes I make a lot of pounds,
My account's very full,
I can make a brother bounce,
But without any tools,
Rollin' in a black cab but
You may know it as a Taxi,
Pump Lloyd from the trunk,
But that's what we call a boot,
Got my boys in the front,
Now that's what we call the troops,
If you bring it to the team,
Find that what we call abuse,
These fit like sneakers,
Feel like sneakers,
Look like sneakers,
But they ? call them shoes,
Got my click in the club,
Poppin' bottles or the sloots ? ,
It's slick gettin' love,
All the models call us too,
Take 'em back to the hotel,
Hope that they won't tell,
That's how I like 'em,
Yeah that's what we call a mute
[Chorus:]
Yeah I know you miss it,
So I'm a make you feel it,
There ain't no other way,
That's just how we do it In The UK,
Get wild, get crunk, get low,
Everybody get on the floor,
Put 'em down, I'm a make you say,
That's just how we do it In The UK
It's ya boy Sway,
What's happening?
I've been around the globe,
Now I'm back again,
I rep. the UK,
I'm attackin' them,
And my boy Lloyd's going straight platinum,
Yeah that boy Lloyd's going straight platinum
The lyrics to "How We Do It in the A" by Lloyd and Lil Wayne describe their experiences and lifestyle in the UK. The song celebrates their success and popularity in the music industry as they make their way through the UK scene.
In the first verse, Lloyd mentions that he has been missing but now he's back on the scene. He acknowledges that the UK has a strong presence and their swagger is mean, indicating their confidence and style. They take pride in being the ones who made people snap their fingers and hit the dance floor. The king, referring to Lloyd himself, is back and ready to show everyone how it's done.
The chorus emphasizes the energetic atmosphere of the UK club scene. The artists boast about being able to make girls get low on the dance floor and enjoying the game they bring to the table. They mention popping bottles, having models around them, and making it rain, indicating a lavish and extravagant lifestyle. It's clear that for them, this is not just a game; it's how they live and express themselves.
In verse two, Lil Wayne joins in and describes his experience at a party where he got tipsy and is now ready to take things to the next level. He addresses the haters and asserts that their level of success and influence cannot be matched. The lyrics represent their attitude of confidence and determination to overcome obstacles.
In the third verse, Sway, a UK artist, makes his appearance and explains how they do things in the UK. He mentions the airport, counting money, and the slang terms used in the UK. Sway expresses his versatility as an artist by saying that he can make people bounce without needing any tools. He emphasizes the unity and loyalty of his crew, referring to them as the troops. Sway talks about his interactions with models and how they enjoy their time together, alluding to their escapades at hotels without wanting any information leaked to the public.
Overall, the lyrics portray the confident and extravagant lifestyle that Lloyd and Lil Wayne enjoy as successful artists in the UK music scene. They convey their ability to make people dance, their appreciation for their UK fanbase, and their determination to continue achieving platinum success. The lyrics reflect their unique experiences and their desire to bring their signature style to the UK.
