I was only 6 and heard it for the first time watching Top of the Pop with my mum. I didn't understand it until hearing it again several years later. But brilliant song and social commentary on the issues of the day.
Has nothing changed? From where I saw it,for all the problems there were the 70s,certainly the first two thirds of it,was part of that post-War era of optimism that things were advancing and getting better with technological advances,diseases like Smallpox being eradicated and an array of other examples of progress. But I was a kid,without the pressures and cares adults had to deal with. And there was low unemployment and a strong basic social security safety net,which cannot be said as readily of some of the times since. I think some people were and are too ready to be negative about everything. A cynicism did start to take a hold,and eventually captured the public mood as a whole. But in the last couple of decades the world appears to have become as huge a ball of confusion as it's been for a long,long time.

I didn't really get into the Temptation's music until I heard this song. From there on I was hooked----line and sinker. I couldn't get enough of these guys. This song, as someone said earlier, is so relevant to today as it was back then. Whoever wrote it was a true visionary and prophet.

This song is not ‘ prophetic’ per say. The 1960’s, 1970’s were just as turbulent as 2020-2021 and they were singing about what happened back then, plus today and the future.

I grew up in Windsor, Ontario across the ditch from the big D. Man that was great stuff. We always loved the music that came out of Detroit. Thanks for the work you put into this video. Class act. A+. Pity how things have been steadily going down hill. May Aretha and so many friends be praying for us all. I hope that people will get more involved at getting healthy and strong in their own lives and much more involved within their communities. I believe that everyone has to get more involved in the work of "Draining the Swamp" on the Potomac. We here in Canada are so screwed up with Liberal-Socialist B.S.
