in 1998 performing with the hardcore rap group Anonymous Tip.
"I couldn't sing. Or scream or anything. It was kind of put up or shut up,
I had to do something. So I started spittin', and we started makin history."
After 2 years with the band, Lo Key called it quits and started recording hip hop
with band mate 100 Proof. Only 2 tracks are rumored to exist, "The Truth",
and "Bottle Dreams (OG)".
"At first we didn't know what the fuck we were doing. We just wrote
random shit down and rapped it. I was experimenting with my style for a
long time. I'm still progressing as an artist and I think that's what keeps
people listening, and outsiders to start listening."
Soon, Lo Key decided to pursue a darker style of music, also known as horrorcore.
"I had been listening to wicked shit for a while, but never really considered it as
a direction I could take musically. But I realized that scene was ME, musically
and in real life. We live wicked, the whole world around us is horrifying.
So I decided I wanted to reflect that in my music."
With a new vision to complete, Lo Key started the group "Temple Rain" with friends
and fellow lyricists Sleepy & Appirition. In 2003 they released theyre debut LP
"The Awakening", a fusion of hip hop and horror. Boasting 19 tracks,
the LP was given away free on the internet and localy.
"The Awakening was a strange time for the 3 of us, I guess we were all
going through a lot of personal shit and you can definitely hear that on the
album. We actually recorded subliminal suicide messages, and shit like
that behind every song. Looking back I can say I have changed alot
since then"
Shortly after it's release, "The Awakening" and all Temple Rain merchandise
was banned in 3 Pennsylvania schools for "promoting / condoning mass suicide
and / or gang violence". This gesture created a stir in the PA underground.
"They said Temple Rain on the news and showed our website, and at the time
we were offering The Awakening free to download. Suddenly we had 300-450
people A DAY getting the CD off the site. It was crazy as hell man"
After being temporarily shut down on several occasions the hype died down
and things appeared to return to normal for the trio. Slipping back into
the studio the group started they're newest project : "The Lost Boys EP"
"Basically, for the EP we were going for a more hip hop feel. There were alot
of people getting into us at that point and we delivered a bomb ass record.
Things seemed to be goin good for us at this point, we did that CD
in 1 month with no outside help or anything."
Released April 30th 2004, "The Lost Boys" hit the streets and local radio.
Around July 2004, Temple Rain went on hiatus to record a full length LP.
"Well there was alot of drama goin on around this time. I don't really want to get
into specifics out of respect for my people but things started fallin apart. Me
and Sleepy got a few tracks done, then we finally decided to call it quits. I
had opportunity elsewhere and he needed a break."
In late 2004 Lo Key moved to Nashville, TN to pursue his dreams of making music
and to continue his journey through the recording industry.
In 2005, Lo Key stepped into new territory when he produced
Madd Maxxx - In The Absence of Sanity, alongside Devize and Fritz
the Cat. Ranging from the emotional piano driven "Saving Grace"
to the hard hitting school shooting based "Classtime Horror", the debut EP
was also Loke's production debut.
"I had mad fun doing that record with him (Maxxx). I literally met that dude
by accident, when he had nothing more than a notepad full of rhymes and
a head full of ideas. And look at him now, his debut EP tops anything
in that genre and cats that been doin it for years. That's something I take
pride in."
In March of 2005, 7th Seal Entertainment and Lo Key released a free, 23 track
full length LP entitled "Repressed Memories". Consisting of rare, unreleased,
and unheard music from the proceeding 4 years, the album was offered free
to download via the 7SE website and given out locally.
"We dropped that shit for our people. Nobody else was putting out QUALITY
free music like that since Tech N9ne did it, and we were hearing alot of
different labels brag about hooking up they're fans, so we strait up took every
piece of material we had and gave it away. For nothing!"
In June 2005 Lo Key released his first solo effort, "Follow Me",
a free EP showcasing his lyrical ability not often seen in the wicked underground
genre. Consisting of 5 tracks, the CD is available to anyone at lokeymusic.net.
"Follow Me is a fuck you to alot of people who doubted me, who said
I should give up and quit doing this wicked shit.. People who live
in a sheltered reality afraid to break away from the worlds
web of madness. It's a big fuck you to those people. You COULD say
it's directed towards THE WORLD, but that's what everyone says."
In October 2005 Key dropped ANOTHER free album, "The House" criticly acclaimed as
"A Horror Masterpeice", "One of the BEST Horror CD's EVER!", and "The Crowning
of a New King of Horrorcore". Featuring production by himself, Stitch Mouth, and
Relapze (as well as collabs with both, and former Temple Rain member SLEEPY), the
album generated over 500gb of downloads in 4 days.
In August 2009, Lo Key posted a MySpace blog announcing that he is walking away from the music industry.
Into the Fire
Lo Key Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Into the fire, into the fire now
Bring the opposition you are
One with the surgeon
Get it poppin' like a long nose
Caught up in the virgin
Yโall motherfuckers burn
Put the word in the sermon homie
I preach hate for sure with the serpents
Trying to keep faith
But it's hard to live this life I live
I write to repent with no road to redemption
Sold my soul just to hold your attention
Getting high on my own intervention
On the war with myself
Iโm alone in the trenches homie
The game changed motherfuckers
Who's interested
Mind the black sky and that's why
I order drinks
Get drunk cause I can't afford a shrink
So I've horded demons in
The murder and flows
Seem the chorus screaming
I'll surely go to be above below
So don't act like the fuck
You know what's after this
Is it bright, white skies or a black abyss
In torment, inadequate, abortion
Ainโt that a bitch of course itโs
The ends making?since staying?
I've been playing (The Devilโs advocate)
Sorry that I'm living this way
Remember when you visit my grave
I look life in the eye, spit in it's face
Find peace but that isn't today
That's why Iโm locked in a dark room
No contact with the outside
I'm about to snap soon, in fact I
I promise to guide you straight into the fire
I promise to guide you (into the fire)
(into the fire now)
I promise to guide you straight into the fire
I promise to guide you (into the fire)
(into the fire now)
Blazing flames with my last breath
Light my way, burn my flesh
Scare the crows, inflame my prayers
Burn my bones, cremate my cares
Illuminate the blackness turn my
Sadness to ashes
I'mma die like a man, take my place
So here I stand
Staring at the Devil, lost in her eyes
Being crucified crossing my mind
The lose inside, doomed, cursed
Commit hallelujahcide, do it in the church
Put a cross on my back
Walk a mile with a godless smile
Conscience of a crocodile
No religion when you live among beast
The feed of the blood of
The wicked hunt sheep
Sold my soul for a microphone
Now I got three gotta burn for the price
A worst talk is cheap
Outta my body into the abyss
On a boat made of bone
Cross the river of Styx
Never become me the almighty ugly
We are the sinners, stay cynical
I'm sent from the bottom of
The pit to the pinnacle
We all die no escape for you
If I go first I'll wait for you
You can run, you can hide
But you gotta face it
Lucky for us the flames are patient
Give me your time, in time I'll waste it
Death extends it's hand, embrace it
Walk with me until forever
Wall for wall we'll burn together
I promise to guide you straight into the fire
I promise to guide you (into the fire)
(into the fire now)
I promise to guide you straight into the fire
I promise to guide you (into the fire)
(into the fire now)
Clichรฉ that's all we know
Cold souls in the dark on the fallen snow
And I'm here to warm you up
Here to warn you
What lies beneath us when your mind releases
And in time it eats us
And we're sliced to pieces
My father told me get right with Jesus
But my mind's been aligned
With an evil beast and all I see when I look
In their eyes is weakness, ahh
All I see in my mind is leeches
I search the hall until I find the priestess
In a all black robe with a dying fetus
And she shows me the flames that
I need to lead us
For the world that bleeds us
Call out to the ones that need us
And they say that it's just music
Till a dude get abused and loses
It and shoots a school up
Until a girl gets raped and
She needed to use it
As a tool to escape when the world refused it
To a kid confused because the voices rule him
And his mind is a bomb that our voice defuses
Now take my hand
Walk forward toward ShadowLand
No more snow, no more rain
Here we venture into the flames like
(Here we venture into the flames like
Here we venture into the flames like
Here we venture into the flames like
Here we venture into the flames like this
Like this, like this, like this)
I promise to guide you straight into the fire
I promise to guide you (into the fire)
(into the fire now)
I promise to guide you straight into the fire
I promise to guide you (into the fire)
We all breathe to expire
I promise to guide you straight into fire
(Promise to guide you)
(Into the fire, into the fire now)
The lyrics of Lo Key's song "Into the Fire" delve into themes of inner turmoil, self-destructive tendencies, and the eternal struggle between good and evil. The artist expresses a sense of being trapped in a cycle of negativity and internal conflict, as revealed in lines such as, "Trying to keep faith, but it's hard to live this life I live. I write to repent with no road to redemption, sold my soul just to hold your attention." This reflects a deep sense of alienation and despair, where the singer feels compelled to engage in destructive behavior to cope with their inner demons.
The repeated promise to guide the listener straight into the fire symbolizes a willingness to confront and embrace the darkness within. The fire serves as a metaphor for the artist's journey through pain and suffering, as they acknowledge their own flaws and past mistakes. This introspective journey is marked by a sense of defiance and rebellion, as seen in the lines, "Blazing flames with my last breath, light my way, burn my flesh. Scare the crows, inflame my prayers, burn my bones, cremate my cares." The artist seeks to transcend their earthly burdens through a symbolic act of self-immolation and purification.
The mention of religious imagery, such as confronting the Devil and being crucified, adds a layer of spiritual and existential questioning to the song. The artist grapples with conflicting beliefs and moral dilemmas, wrestling with their own inner demons and the concept of sin and redemption. There is a sense of resignation mixed with defiance, as expressed in the lines, "We all die no escape for you, if I go first I'll wait for you. You can run, you can hide, but you gotta face it. Lucky for us the flames are patient." This reflects a fatalistic acceptance of fate intertwined with a rebellious spirit that refuses to bow down to conventional morality.
Ultimately, the song "Into the Fire" is a raw and introspective exploration of the human condition, delving into the dark recesses of the soul and confronting uncomfortable truths. The artist invites the listener on a journey of self-discovery and catharsis, challenging societal norms and personal limitations. Through vivid imagery and intense emotions, Lo Key's lyrics create a haunting and thought-provoking narrative that reflects the complexities of the human experience and the ongoing battle between light and darkness within us all.

Lo Key's verse was literally the perfect embodiment of real horrorcore. A bit of warped metaphors and true meaning.
