Collapse
Lobby Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Anytime your spirit crosses mine
Anywhere evidences are collapsed
Dear are you need somebody's help?
All the searches I've made are tried in vain

Was the night to deeply drab?
Your tears have wet the black sidewalk
All of my dreams are on their way
The city burns what have I wasted?

Hopes are sunk who can be fine?
Ocean should be drunk by now

Your tears have wet the black sidewalk
All of the way to say goodbye

Overall Meaning

In "Collapse," Lobby sings about the aftermaths of a failed relationship, where two people's spirits, which have intersected, now cross each other. He talks about how evidence that was once strong has now collapsed, and how he seems to be powerless to fix the situation. It's a song that's full of grief, pain, and heartbreak.

The chorus, "Your tears have wet the black sidewalk/All of the way to say goodbye," reveals the depth of despair that the singer is feeling. Despite his attempts to find hope or some sort of redemption, his feelings are only getting worse. The lines "The city burns what have I wasted?" and "Hopes are sunk who can be fine?" depict just how hopeless and helpless he feels.
