Off the Ground
Logh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can you hear.
Hear the bell.
The church bell.
The church on the hill.
The sound is off.
It's off the ground.
Have you seen.
Seen the men.
The dead men.
The office men.

They are men of the sky.
They're off the ground

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Logh's song Off the Ground paint a haunting image of death and the contrast between those who are living and those who have passed on. The repeated question of "Can you hear" suggests a sense of foreboding, and the reference to the church bell indicates that something significant has happened - a funeral, perhaps, or the passing of time itself. The "church on the hill" could represent a kind of symbolic bridge between heaven and earth, with the sound of the bell serving as a kind of tether between the two realms.

The phrasing "The sound is off" is particularly interesting, as it suggests that something is not quite right - perhaps the bell is not ringing as it should, or perhaps there is some other sense of dislocation or distortion in the environment. The second verse adds to this sense of unease, with a reference to "dead men" and "office men" who are "off the ground". This phrase could be interpreted in a few different ways - perhaps it refers to people who are literally dead, and therefore not bound to the laws of gravity and the earth. Alternatively, it could refer to the idea of being "off the ground" in a figurative sense - perhaps these men have achieved some sort of spiritual transcendence or enlightenment.
