Babel
Logic Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Okay, so what do you think life was like before the fall?
I mean we've seen pictures of open land as far as the eye can see
And oceans incomprehensible in size that our grandparents would do their best to describe it.
I just can't imagine life anywhere but inside a space station.
I mean the simple concept of a sky doesn't even fully register

We do have fields on the Babel station and also
Yeah, yeah, but that's all synthetic, I mean were heading to this planet right?
That we call "Paradise" because we hope it can sustain life. Why?

Because we'll eventually run out of resources

Exactly! I mean what if we got there and it's exactly as the data predicted
Beautiful, lush, then we destroy it just like we did Earth?
There's only 5 million human beings left in the universe.
I mean it's weird to think about the fact that in 2065
The last footprint was left on Earth before ascending to Babel

Man, what's your point?

The point is, 30 ships have traveled in deep space looking for a planet like this.
Damn near all of them return home without any luck!

Some of them didn't return at all.
I guess my fear isn't that we won't find Paradise: it's that we'll create purgatory

Overall Meaning

In the song "Babel," Logic discusses the possibility of life before the fall of humankind, reflecting on what life may have been like on Earth before it became uninhabitable. He acknowledges that he cannot imagine a world without a space station being home, and challenges the concept of a sky that he has never experienced. He then moves on to discuss the intended human relocation to a new planet, called "Paradise," that has the potential to sustain life. However, he raises concerns about the possibility of humans destroying this planet in the same way they did Earth, thereby creating a "purgatory."

The lyrics of "Babel" explore the idea of the human condition in a futuristic, dystopian world - one where Earth has become inhabitable and humans have no choice but to relocate to a new planet. Logic raises questions around whether humans have learned from past mistakes and whether they will be able to create a new, more sustainable world. He also touches on the idea of human insignificance in the vastness of the universe, where there are only 5 million humans left. Ultimately, the song reflects on the importance of sustainable living and preserving our planet, as we consider the possibility of relocating.

It's the story for Cowboy Bebop, which is an anime so if you'd like to watch that, it's kind of a series.

@InfectedoOG

No, it's not about looking for a new earth. But you get what I mean, Earth is unhabitable and they colonized other planets in the Solar System but while they're trying to keep humanity alive they're also talkin about just living life.

And bla bla bla, I can keep going on but I haven't seen the anime myself. I just heard Logic explain what the album is based of.
