Miss You
London Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey kid... I got something to tell ya
One day I'll be gone and I'll miss you
Hey you... I gotta tell ya
Your dreams will come true... Oh they do

All of my life... singing the songs
Closing a dream... why I keep moving on
All of my life... I keep going on and on

Will you miss me when I'm gone?
Don't forget me... don't you know
Say you are with me... say you are
Will you miss me when I'm gone?

Gonna make me cry... oh, cry
Babe I need you every day
Wanna love you... oh don't you know
Things can't stay this way

Will you miss me when I'm gone?
Don't forget me... don't you know
Say you are with me... say you are
Will you miss me when I'm gone?

Will you miss me when I'm gone?
Don't forget me... don't you know

Say you are with me... say you are
Will you miss me when I'm gone?

Overall Meaning

In London's song "Miss You," the lyrics appear to be directed towards someone who is close to the singer, potentially a child or a partner. The opening lines, "Hey kid... I got something to tell ya / One day I'll be gone and I'll miss you" suggest that the singer is aware of their own mortality and wants to make sure this special person knows that they will be missed. The next lines, "Hey you... I gotta tell ya / Your dreams will come true... Oh they do" show that the singer is also offering encouragement and reassurance to this person. It's almost as if the singer is saying, "I may not be here forever, but don't worry - you'll be okay and I believe in you."

As the song progresses, the lyrics become more introspective. The lines "All of my life... singing the songs / Closing a dream... why I keep moving on / All of my life... I keep going on and on" suggest that the singer has been pursuing a career in music for their entire life, but they are still searching for something - perhaps a sense of fulfillment or purpose. The chorus serves as a plea from the singer to the listener: "Will you miss me when I'm gone? Don't forget me... don't you know / Say you are with me... say you are / Will you miss me when I'm gone?" It almost seems as if the singer is asking for validation or acknowledgement - they want to know that they will be remembered and missed.

Overall, "Miss You" is a poignant and vulnerable expression of the singer's emotions. It's a reminder that life is fleeting and that we should cherish the people we love while we still can.

Oh Lord! I forgot this existed! I was the girl that DIDN'T like the hair bands and their ballads, I was too busy listening to Slayer, Testament, Pantera, etc. But, I will admit when this came on the radio and I was alone, I would turn it up, think about "boys" and have a cry. Lol. sigh....

haha Same, but I'm a guy. Nadir had some charisma. I actually took an ex-girlfriend to see them in Seattle on the tour. Strange audience, and didn't play any earlier stuff, like "Ride You Through The Night," sadly. A one-off gig. I continued to see Nevermore, and Metal Church, and Forced Entry, and many friends' bands. haha No one I knew was there. LOL
