All of the members aside from McKee and Hedgecock left the band in 1985, and they replaced them with Shane Fontayne (guitar), Greg Sutton (bass), Rudy Richman (drums) and Bruce Brody (keyboards) for the recording of "Shelter". The band split in 1987, with McKee going onto a solo career.
Pass It On
Lone Justice Lyrics

And put on a pre-pressed suit
And in some stately office
Behind a desk they pay their dues
Some men make an honest buck
Some hustle kids out on the street
Some men only know the feel of earth
They only know the feel of earth
That gives beneath their feet
Land to land, Father to son
Soil or sand, pass it on
Trust to trust, gold to dust
Keep the faith till the battle's won
Pass it on, pass it on, pass it on
Fortune blesses us with virtue
But you must learn to use your will
Or they'll snatch it out from under you
The minute you stand still
Any fightin' fool can plant a seed
And boast of what he knows
But it was all I ever needed
Just to prove that it would grow
All I ever needed was
To prove that seed would grow
Land to land, Father to son
Soil or sand, pass it on
Trust to trust, gold to dust
Keep the faith till the battle's won
Pass it on, pass it on, pass it on
Gonna take more than a rule
To make me leave my heritage
Gonna take more than that
To make me turn my back to it
As long as I'm alive
I'll take the stand to pass it on
As long as there's a man
There'll be a son to pass it on
Land to land, Father to son
Soil or sand, pass it on
Trust to trust, gold to dust
Keep the faith till the battle's won
Pass it on, pass it on, pass it on
Land to land, Father to son
Soil or sand, pass it on
Trust to trust, gold to dust
Keep the faith till the battle's won
Pass it on, pass it on, pass it on
Land to land, Father to son
Soil or sand, pass it on
Trust to trust, gold to dust
Keep the faith till the battle's won
Pass it on, pass it on, pass it on
Land to land, Father to son
Soil or sand
The lyrics to Lone Justice's song "Pass It On" speak to the idea of passing down tradition and heritage from one generation to the next. The song acknowledges the different paths that people take in life, with some working in offices and others working on land, but ultimately celebrates the value of hard work and perseverance. The metaphor of passing on land from father to son is used to illustrate the idea of passing down values and traditions, while the line "keep the faith till the battle's won" emphasizes the importance of determination and persistence.
The song also references the idea of fortune and the need to use one's will to maintain it. The lyrics caution against complacency and encourage taking action to protect and preserve what is important. The line "gonna take more than a rule to make me leave my heritage" highlights the importance of personal conviction and values in the face of outside pressures.
Overall, "Pass It On" is a call to action to hold onto and pass down the things that matter most, whether they be tangible assets like land or intangible values and traditions.
