Lord of War brings to the table a perfect balance of engaging technicality and progressive elements seamlessly intertwined with powerful melodies and crushing breaks. They pride themselves in keeping an expansive repetoire and a “something for everyone” ethos, while simultaneously maintaining an uncompromised level of dedication to musicianship and innovation within the scene. They constantly push their collective skillsets to the next level in order to deliver increasingly imaginative aggression to their fanbase. Long a mainstay in their local metal scene, they’ve pushed to expand their horizons through the landing of shows with such national acts as Origin, Cattle Decapitation, Pathology, and The Faceless.
The world took notice of their efforts, and in Fall 2011, the band announced signing a multi-album deal with the legendary metal label Unique Leader Records. This opportunity precipitated an official January 31st 2012 street date for their debut album “Celestial Pestilence”, which was recorded by Arde Ostowari from the technical deathcore phenomenon Burning the Masses. Going forward, Lord of War is determined to become a major presence in the national and global scenes through extensive touring and recording of new material, and are currently poised to take their campaign of domination to an international scale.
Skin
Lord of War Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Instruments beneath the dead
Hanging bodies drain all the blood
One purpose you will serve
I′m going to taste your sin
Countless worlds have been conquered
Your screams will go unanswered
You think you can escape
As you ascend further and further to the altar
The smell of iron infests the air
The skin is flayed with careful precision
Exposing innards
Absolute revulsion
There is no stopping this machine
Blood and pain through eons of suffering
Endless servants sacrificed to their gods
Their true purpose to relinquish organic matter
Ripped from flesh (your skin is ripe for the taking)
Devouring worlds (in this ritual of negation)
Transitory (an immense thirst for power)
Divinity (of indiscriminate slaughter)
Entombed (the evil that dwells within)
Metaphysics
I take comfort
In your decay
You are my sanctuary
You liberate this fucking insanity
The lyrics of "Skin" by Lord of War are dark and gruesome, describing the process of harvesting human skin for a ritualistic purpose. The first few lines are particularly disturbing, as they describe the process of ripping skin from flesh, using instruments found beneath the dead bodies hanging nearby. The bodies are drained of blood, and the skin is carefully flayed to expose its innards. It’s a ritualistic process that has been performed countless times, sacrificially serving their gods, relinquishing organic matter.
As the song progresses, it becomes clear that the singer is perpetuating this ritual. He seems to be relishing in the revulsion, to the point where he plans to taste the sin of his victims. He acknowledges the countless worlds that have already been conquered by this killing machine, with their screams left unanswered.
He continues to describe the process of ascending to the altar, where the smell of iron, blood and pain permeates the air. It’s a gruesome scene, where the singer takes comfort in the decay at hand. He views it as a sanctuary, a reprieve from the madness of his existence.
Overall, the lyrics of "Skin" are deeply unsettling and provoke disgust and horror. They describe the complete lack of empathy shown towards the victims, who are treated as nothing more than vessels to satiate the blood-lust of their conquerors.
