Their first hit was Veni Raquel, which set the tone for their later lyrics' irreverence and ironic humor. Many of their songs are classic anthems of Argentinian nightlife, such as Corazón, Loco (Tu Forma de Ser), Entregá el Marrón, La Guitarra, Los Piratas, and El Murguero.
For some of their hit songs and videos, the Decandentes have engaged many Argentine icons such as former soccer referee Guillermo Nimo and the later candombe singer Alberto Castillo. They are popular with many generations as they draw from traditions such as canzonetta, murga bands, and cantina songs.

Me quisieron sacrificar
Me quisieron ahogar en un balde
Pero pude zafar
Corriendo por las calles
Me enredaba en mi cordón umbilical
Viviendo con los perros
Comiendo en la basura de un bar
Baila y baila sin parar
Tu vida es una historia triste
Baila y baila sin parar
Te tenés que reír
Yo bailo y bailo sin parar
Mi vida es una historia triste
Bailo y bailo sin parar
Me tengo que reír
Nunca tuve novia
Y nunca la voy a tener
Nadie quiere a un jorobadito
Nadie lo puede querer
Huían las mujeres
Cuando yo las traté de tocar
Me negaron el cariño
Me empujaron al placer de ser cruel
Me dijeron
Baila y baila sin parar
Tu vida es una historia triste
Baila y baila sin parar
Te tenés que reír
Yo bailo y bailo sin parar
Mi vida es una historia triste
Bailo y bailo sin parar
Me tengo que reír
"El Jorobadito" (The Hunchback) by Los Auténticos Decadentes is a song about the life of a hunchback who has experienced rejection and loneliness from birth. The hunchback, who is the singer of the song, recalls his birth and how he narrowly escaped being sacrificed and drowned in a bucket. He then talks about how he struggled on the streets while getting tangled in his umbilical cord and living among dogs while eating scraps from a bar.
Throughout his life, the hunchback faced continuous rejections and was never able to find love or companionship. Women would run away from him or reject him when he tried to touch them. He was denied affection, and those who he tried to show love with were cruel in return. Despite all this, the hunchback dances, and the chorus of the song urges him to continue dancing and laughing.
The lyrics depict the isolation and marginalization that an individual in society may go through because of physical differences. The song elicits sympathy and inspires one to be kinder to others, to embrace all individuals despite differences in appearance, and to celebrate uniqueness.
