They specialize in Andalusian folk music, specially "sevillanas", the most typical and light music of Andalusia. For a number of years, Los del Río were known for attending private "jet-set" parties at Marbella. However, in the summer of 1996, the duo enjoyed the success of their multi-platinum smash summer hit "Macarena", which sold over 4 million copies in the United States alone, but also was their one-hit wonder. The "Macarena" later respawned as a Christmas single and several "Quinceñera remixes" were commissioned in 2008, one of them produced by Jon Secada.
"Macarena" is a song by Los del Río about a woman of the same name. It was originally released in 1993, as a new flamenco rumba pop fusion theme with fully Spanish lyrics, with a significant success in Spain and Mexico. After being remixed by the Bayside Boys and having English lyrics added, it became a worldwide summer hit in 1996. The single spent 14 weeks at number-one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. During its heyday, it was played frequently at professional athletic games, rallies, conventions, and other places. The Macarena remained popular through 1996, but by the end of 1997, its popularity had diminished greatly. The song also broke records at the time by remaining in the Hot 100 chart for 60 weeks (about 15 months).
By late 1996, "Macarena" became part of popular culture. First in Europe, where it was parodied by several artists, including Mike Flowers Pops and MC Rage. Soon after hitting the US, "Macarena" was referenced in numerous sitcoms, cartoons and motion pictures. By the end of 1997, the "Macarena" craze was over and a new wave of up-and-coming Latin artists crossed over to mainstream markets, following the success of the "Macarena" remixes. Ricky Martin, Elvis Crespo and Daniela Mercury all achieved breakthrough success by having their songs remixed in a similar fashion to Los Del Rio's "Macarena", albeit only Ricky Martin really made an artistic crossover to cement his career out of the strictly Latin music market.

(bis)
2-.
Sevilla, tan cariñosa, tan morenita, gitana, tan morena y tan hermosa,
Sevilla enamora al río y hasta san lucas se va, y a la mujer de mantilla
Le gusta verla pasar.
Estribillo.
3-.
Sevilla, tu eres mi amante, misteriosa reina mora, tan flamenca y elegante,
Sevilla enamora al mundo por su manera de ser, por su calor, por sus ferias,
Sevilla tuvo que ser.
Estribillo. (repetir hasta el final)
The lyrics of Los Del Rio's song "Sevilla Tiene Un Color Especial" celebrate the beauty and charm of the city of Sevilla, located in the Andalusian region of Spain. The singer expresses his joy and happiness when talking to the people of Sevilla, who are always smiling and kind. The city has a special color that fills the sky with blue, and the neighborhoods of Triana and Santa Cruz are mentioned as tranquil and peaceful places to rest. The scent of orange blossoms is also mentioned, which is a common fragrance in the city.
The second verse mentions how loving and beautiful Sevilla is, with its Gitana women and Mantilla-dressed ladies. The city enamors the river and even reaches San Lucas, a reference to the patron saint of the city. The woman in Mantilla loves to see the city go by, which harkens back to the past traditions of the city. The final verse speaks to the exotic and alluring persona of Sevilla. A mysterious Moorish queen with grace, elegance, and with a passion for flamenco dance. Sevilla enamors the world with its charm, its warmth, and its famous fairs. At the end of each verse and repeated throughout the song, the chorus sings "Sevilla tiene un color especial" which means "Sevilla has a special color."

with joy
when I talk with its people
Seville, makes the sky fall in love,
to dress it in blue,
Even the sun sleeps in Triana
And the moon in Santa cruz
Chorus:
Seville has a special colour,
Seville still has its charm
It stills smelling like orange blossom,
I like to be with its people.
Chorus
Seville, so lovely,
so darkskinned,
so gipsy, and so beautiful
Seville, makes the river fall in love,
and it goes to San Lucas,
and loves to see
The woman passing with a shawl
Chorus
Seville,
you're my lover,
misterious moor queen,
so gipsy and elegant.
Seville, makes the world fall in love
with its way to be,
its warmth, its fairs
Seville had to be
