El Tiburón
Los Locos Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Got myself some rhum
'Cause where I'm from sometimes you need some.
Ella pasó (¡oh, no!),

No pares, sigue, sigue...
Okey, tanto, encontré otra chica que estaba mejor.
Bailamos tres merengues de corrido y gozamos.
Luego nos sentamos, ordenamos bebidas y conversamos.
She looked good, so of course I lied all my girls from the hood.

Ella preguntó si tenía novia y yo dije no.
¿Tú no eres casado?"
Oh, my God!, ese tiburón.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Los Locos's song El Tiburon tells a story of a man who goes to a club hoping to find a cool drink and maybe a girl to dance with. He spots a beautiful woman and wants to dance with her, but as soon as they hit the dance floor, the infamous "shark" comes and takes her away. Although disappointed, he quickly finds another girl to dance with and enjoys his night, lying to her about having a girlfriend. However, his lies catch up to him when another guy asks if he is married, and the new girl is taken away from him as well. Throughout the song, the repetition of the phrase "no pares, sigue, sigue" encourages the listener to keep dancing and enjoying life, despite setbacks and disappointments.

The lyrics of El Tiburon are relatable to many people who have experienced disappointment or frustration while trying to find love or have a good time at a club. The lyrics also touch on the theme of honesty and how lying can have negative consequences. The use of metaphors, such as the "shark" representing competition for love and attention, adds depth to the lyrics and allows the listener to draw their own interpretations.
