Los Outsaiders Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Los Outsaiders's song Niña explore complicated feelings towards a younger girl. The singer is attracted to her, but recognizes that she is still a child and he cannot act on his desires as it would not be appropriate. He acknowledges her innocence and the imaginary world that she inhabits, as he observes her playing with dolls and living out her childhood. He is aware that he could never fully understand her young mind, and that attempting to do so would only lead to judgment and criticism from others.

The singer seems conflicted in the song and is wary of the judgment and criticism that he might face if he were to act on his emotions. Throughout the song, he grapples with the idea of being attracted to someone who is still a child and questions the morality of his own thoughts. While he acknowledges the attraction, he is also aware of the danger of acting on it and knows that societal norms prohibit such a relationship. The song ends with a final assertion that one should be true to oneself, even if others may not understand or approve.
