Sand
Lost and Found Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Waiting for an echo, after I gave you my word
You dont need the make up, wish that I could read your mind
Underneath the silence, screaming on the inside
Oooohh maybe I'm just a grain of sand
Oooohh sometimes I wonder if I am
Slipping through your hands
Let me know your secrets, don't leave any piece behind
In your deepest meadow, lookin' for shadows to find
Fallin' like a pebble, thrown into the deepest night
Keep me at a distance, when I try to hold on tight
Oooohh maybe I'm just a grain of sand
Oooohh sometimes I wonder if I am
Slipping through your hands
Oooohh maybe I'm just a grain of sand
Oooohh sometimes I wonder if I am
Slipping through your hands
The lyrics to Lost and Found's song "Sand" depict a feeling of disconnectedness and uncertainty within a relationship. The singer describes walking in the desert, feeling like a stranger in the world. This could be a metaphor for feeling lost or out of place in their own life. They also mention waiting for an echo after giving their word, suggesting they are seeking some kind of response or validation from the person they are addressing.
The singer expresses a desire to understand their partner on a deeper level, wishing they could read their mind. There is a sense of frustration and longing beneath the silence that is not being effectively communicated. They feel like they are screaming on the inside, emphasizing the inner turmoil and the need for the other person to understand their innermost thoughts and emotions.
The second verse continues the theme of wanting to know their partner's secrets and not wanting any part of them to be left behind. They are searching for hidden truths, looking for shadows to find. The image of falling like a pebble into the deepest night suggests a feeling of being lost and alone in the darkness. The singer acknowledges a need for distance, as they feel that they are slipping away even when they try to hold on tightly.
Overall, the song "Sand" explores the feelings of isolation, uncertainty, and longing within a relationship. The singer questions their importance and wonders if they are insignificant, like a grain of sand slipping through the other person's hands.
