I agree there's gonna be a TON of this stuff out there. The number of Wander Franco base and parallel cards will be mind blowing. That's why he wasn't in update. Kept him back to make more money. Series 1is highest printed BB set of the year.

Just wanna say a big thanks. I participated in my first MLB card break ever after watching this. Not knowing which teams to invest in but hoping for a rookie auto I followed your guide and choose the Nats & Braves. I landed a rookie auto and a few decent inserts in a jumbo box break. After getting back into card collecting and watching a number of your set reviews last year, I found myself really looking forward to your review of series 1. You do such a great job of breaking everything down and giving some great insights to breaks and which teams may be worth pursuing. I really appreciate the time and preparation it must take to put this together for each review. Like many, I was hoping for a review for the 2021 Bowman draft, but totally understand taking some time off to recharge and strategize for the the upcoming year. Keep up the great work!! I feel like this set is on the weak side due to lack of big time rookies(except for Wander of course) and fear the overproduction. I think I counted 31 Wander rookies cards before you even get to the parallels? But who am I kidding, I can wait to rip a jumbo and probably grab many blasters and hangers on every trip past the card isle lol

I’ve been looking for football for months at my local card spots. Today I found a blaster of this, so I bought it just so I could open cards (I watch baseball but never collected baseball). I immediately loved it. Found this video and I’m even more excited to get into baseball collecting. Wish the hobby was in a better place right now, but I’ll take this product whenever I can get it! Tons of fun. The design is so slick. Very appealing to me!

Awesome stuff as always One cent! What is your thought process on jumbos? It seems like a better deal then Hobby's if hobby is only about $80 less but it still seems like a high risk high reward since the auto could very well be a no name? I'm between getting a jumbo or scooping up 8-10 blasters and trying my luck that way (while keeping a few sealed long term). Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you so much for the great content and advice! I make a habit of watching your videos before the various Topps Series cards come out. With that said I plan on doing PYT breaks through my LCS but probably going with just the Rays. Frankly I don’t see many blockbuster teams. Last year I was high on both Madrigal and Adell so I bought into all White Sox and Angels stuff, respectively, but without Wander in Series 1, this seems like a dud IMO.

It's really being driven by Wander, but there are a few other names who over time could rise up. Duran and Detmers I would include there. But out of the blocks... Pure Wander mania.

@Jeremiah Mills as for how to get into my breaks, the best way is to become a Patreon. I announce all my breaks on there. @Jeremiah Mills I only do random team breaks so I can get the price lower for the group. So in my breaks, you just buy a spot and we randomize teams before the break starts. The advantage here is you could get a huge team (say the Braves in this case) for much cheaper than a pick your team break. The Braves are going for about $90-$100 on eBay right now for pick your team breaks on a case of Series 1 Jumbo. In a random team break of Jumbo cases, it's about $50 right now. If you got the Rays - you're looking at about $375-$400 for a pick your team. In a random team break that spot is still only gonna cost $50.

The best set... 2 jumbo boxes. The subsets would be tough to figure out but probably 2 - 3 cases. You have to go the singles route to get all of the subsets completed.

That's a sweet deal if you buy product regularly. The pricing I use is general online store pricing for the videos. Good card shops generally have it a little cheaper, but not everyone has an LCS around so the good ol interwebs is all they got.

Great question. Lately, a lot of product is opened, but typically, there's probably at least 25-30% that stays sealed. I don't know the exact number though.

Autos will be fairly easy to pull in the set, just a bummer there won't be any autos guaranteed in any format but jumbo again.

I'm kind of new to the hobby so please tell me if my evaluation is right or wrong. If you're going to spend a couple hundred dollars on this product you're going to end up with a lot of base cards that really aren't worth a lot of money. What people are looking for are the HITS. Wouldn't it be better to just buy the hits that you want on ebay or at a card shop rather than ending up with a lot of base cards you don't want that take up a lot of room? If you're one of those persons who likes to build the set that's fine but it seems like no one really wants the regular cards, only the hits.

There's some truth to this. If you don't want the set, then yes buy singles of the cards you do want. If you enjoy ripping packs, seeing the cards and collecting the set, a box is the best way to go. Not everyone just wants hits. Collectors enjoy the pack ripping experience!

They're great for SPs and parallels. They have the best odds to pull them compared to other formats. If you want autos, you got to go a different direction. Hangers don't have great auto odds.

Fanatics Rubin told Sports Collectors Digest yesterday that he wants to increase the collector base from its present level by a factor of 10 to 100. Basically he wants every sports fan to be a card collector at some level. Fanatics is already running Topps. If you thought production was getting too high recently, you ain't seen nothing yet... Fanatics jumps starts the new wax era. I doubt, having been in the hobby since 1960, and and was an LCS owner for over 20 years, he is in dream land. He stated he plans to using Topps baseball to test and adapt products and production for when he picks up the NBA and NFL. Seems he is leaning to keep Topps brands, and expand them to basketball and football when he gets the licenses, and phase out the Panini brands. Gonna be an interesting ride....

@1 Cent Sports Cards He also stated that the collecting card industry does almost no advertising of its products, especially considering the amount of product sold. So he plans to change that. So I guess we may see card adds on TV, print, and social media as well.... And he also said they are keeping all of Topps employees since they know what they are doing card production and design wise, though the customer service area needs upgrading to Fanatics standards - that I can agree with...

The Megas have good odds for parallels, not so great on autos. But probably better value than a blaster for sure. I'd say Megas are a good buy for this set.

The design for 2021 was downright awful. But there's just too many solid rookies in that set. Granted, tmmany didn't have stellar years last year, but Bart, Adell, Bohm, Madrigal etc... They are too talented. I think 2021 is going to really come of age by the all star break. Assuming baseball actually starts.

Good analysis but 27 minutes of lays and analysis is eye glazing. If what you have to say takes more than 3 minutes- WrITE IT Down!! Much easier to understand and digest. Good data shit information- I’m an analysis so this type of long winded video makes me irritable

Thanks for watching! Good news about YT - you can choose to skip ahead any moment. I do marketing for a living and work with analysts daily and appreciate the deep data dives that help develop sound marketing strategies but I've never seen an analyst sell ideas or present them. I'm not sure what profession an analysis is, but I've always been on the idea/creative side. I'm not doing this for data points, I'm doing it for a love of the hobby and to give people a real deep dive on everything to expect from the set .. and the Flagship Topps set is a huge set. It takes time to cover. Sorry it didn't suit your taste.
