Clover
Louie Zong Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You know I've broken a mirror or two
And I love black cats, what can I do?
But it don't matter when you're over
'Cause you're my lucky four-leaf clover

Open my umbrellas inside
Sometimes they just need to get dry
But it don't matter when you're over
'Cause you're my lucky four-leaf clover

'Cause you're my lucky four-leaf clover
Lucky lucky, lucky lucky, lucky lucky
Four-leaf clover
Lucky lucky, lucky lucky, lucky lucky
Four-leaf clover
Lucky lucky, lucky lucky, lucky lucky
Four-leaf clover
Lucky lucky, lucky lucky, lucky lucky
Four-leaf clover

Who needs luck to be a lady tonight?
All I need you here is by my side

Heaven's nothing when you're around
I walk under every ladder in town (whoo)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Louie Zong's "Clover" refer to superstitions and bad luck, and how they don't matter when you have someone who brings you good luck in your life. The first stanza references the breaking of mirrors, black cats, and the idea of bad luck that comes with them. The singer acknowledges their affinity for these symbols, but claims that it doesn't matter when they have their "lucky four-leaf clover" with them. The second stanza mentions the superstition of opening umbrellas indoors, but again, the singer declares that it doesn't matter when their "lucky four-leaf clover" is present.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "lucky four-leaf clover" several times, emphasizing the idea that having a symbol of good luck is important. The line "Who needs luck to be a lady tonight?" references the popular Broadway musical and film "Guys and Dolls," and suggests that having the right partner is more important than luck or superstition. The final line of the song, "I walk under every ladder in town," reinforces the idea that the singer is not afraid of bad luck because they have their "lucky four-leaf clover" with them.

Overall, "Clover" is a fun and upbeat song that celebrates the power of positive thinking and the importance of having someone or something that brings good luck into your life.

I understand that this song means that even though they meet, they will never touch. But I don't understand the other parts. I hope someone can explain to me what the other lines mean without too many graphs and calculations because that will only confuse me. I just need this for my exam
