Shelter
Love Is Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You can she can see the stars through her roof
Her doors never open
Shes too afraid of who might come through
In her foundation
Is a path of hatred and loss
She says where do I go
When lost in the hills of my soul
And ive lost all direction I know
God I'm not wanting answers
Just give me your shelter!
His hands are shaking
As he drops his hope to the ground
His fears keep replaying
His afflictions spread all around
But in his weakness
God's love comes crashing through
He says where do i go?
When lost in the hills of my soul?
That storm brings me farther from home
And I've lost all direction I know
God I'm not wanting answers
Just give me your shelter
God your where I go
When traveling the hills of my soul
Your the only direction I know
Show me the way home
God I'm not wanting answers
Just give me your shelter
The lyrics of Shelter by Love Is speak to the struggles of two individuals who are dealing with personal challenges and are in dire need of help from a higher power. The first protagonist is a woman whose house is broken and unable to provide her with the basic necessities she needs. Her doors never open, and she is afraid of who might come through. She has experienced loss and hatred in her foundation and is lost in the hills of her soul. She is looking for a safe haven, a place of refuge from the storms of life that keep her away from home. She pleads with God to provide her with shelter, not answers, as she knows that this is what she needs to find peace.
The second protagonist is a man who is struggling with fear and weakness. His hands are shaking as he drops his hope to the ground, and his afflictions spread all around him. He too is lost in the hills of his soul and is looking for guidance. He cries out to God, asking where he should go when he feels so lost. He too is caught in a storm that has taken him far away from his home, and he has lost all sense of direction. He turns to God and His love comes crashing through, giving him the strength to carry on. He also pleads with God to give him shelter, to show him the way home, and to be his constant guide.
Overall, the lyrics of Shelter by Love Is are a powerful and emotive portrayal of human struggle, perseverance, and faith in the face of adversity. The song speaks to the universal human experience of feeling lost, alone, and in need of help. Love is not a place, to come and go as we please
It's a house we enter in, and then commit to never leave
So lock the door behind you, throw away the key
We’ll work it out together, let it bring us to our knees
Coro: Love is a shelter in a raging storm;
Love is a peace in a middle of a war, and if we try to leave may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight, but it's something worth fighting for
To some love is a word that they can fall into
But when they’re falling out, keeping their word is hard to do
Coro: Love is a shelter in a raging storm;
Love is peace in a middle of a war, but if we try to leave may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight, but is something worth fighting for
Ponte: Love will come to save us, if we’ll only call
He will ask nothing from us, but demand we give our all
Coro: Love is a shelter in a raging storm;
Love is a peace in a middle of a war, and if we try to leave may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight, but is something worth fighting for
I will fight for you!
Would you fight for me?
It’s worth fighting for

I've got a strong feeling that I'm about to enter an all-out spiritual war on God's behalf for the young woman I love. This is the most appropriate song I could think of to prepare for whatever lies ahead. If anyone wishes to pray for me, please pray that God would keep my heart soft and focused on Him, and that above all else His will would be done. Any spiritual backup would be greatly appreciated, because I have a feeling things are about to get ugly.
