While earning many rave reviews from the blogging community for their blend of art punk and indie rock, the band released several singles, one of which made single of the week in NME. The singles were collected on the debut LP Nine Times That Same Song, released by New York-based What's Your Rupture? in late 2005. After much touring through 2006 and 2007, Eriksson left the band and Love Is All continued on as a quartet. A Hundred Things Keep Me Up at Night and the remix album Love Is All Mixed Up arrived in 2008, along with Eriksson's replacement Åke Strömer (saxophone, keyboards). They are currently signed to the New York-based indie label What's Your Rupture?.

False Pretense
Love Is All Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Flawless, faster lawless
But not so good with truth
A perfect reject
Now you made much more sense
As full of false pretense
More entertaining before
You started explaining
A twisted crook
With a twisted quick look
Much more fun
As a friend on the run
A twisted crook
With a twisted quick look
Oh, much more fun
As a friend on the run
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh-ho, oh, oh
Oh, oh-ho, oh, oh
Oh, oh-ho, oh, oh
An author but never artful
And cracked peoples starry hopes
A friendly outcome
What a joke had passed
But then you had to be saved
From the rotten and depraved
Gone with a lively star eaten face
Of shining glory
A twisted crook
With a twisted quick look
Much more fun
As a friend on the run
A twisted crook
With a twisted quick look
Oh, much more fun
As a friend on the run
Oh, oh-ho, oh-ho-ho
Oh, oh-ho, oh-ho-ho
Oh, oh-ho, oh-ho-ho
Oh, oh-ho, oh-ho-ho
Ho
The lyrics to Love Is All's song False Pretense seem to be criticizing someone who is deceptive and dishonest but has a charming persona. The song suggests that this person may be more enjoyable to be around when they are not revealing their true nature. The first verse highlights the contradictions in this person's behavior, being both flawless and lawless, but also lacking in truthfulness and respect. The second verse suggests that this person may have been more entertaining before revealing their true nature. The chorus emphasizes the idea that this person is a "twisted crook" with a "twisted quick look" and that they are more fun as a friend on the run, implying that their personality is more suited to being a charming rogue than a trustworthy friend.
Overall, the lyrics to False Pretense seem to be a critique of people who present a false image of themselves in order to be more appealing to others. It suggests that there is something inherently deceitful and manipulative about this behavior, and that it is not a sustainable way to form meaningful relationships. The song seems to be advocating for more honesty and authenticity in our interactions with others, even if that means being less charming or likeable.
