Or i'm no good for you
And I always say i'm sorry
Even if I never do what you think I do
Im ashamed of showing you the real me
Guess that explains why you never hear me
Guess that explains why you never hear me yeah
Momma told me boy just wait until you're older
Okay yeah i'm sorry I don't mean to be a bother
I rely on you more than I do with my own father
You been taking care of me for my whole life
Sacrificed your teenage years and all your peers just so I could have mine
And sometimes I feel like a dick for taking all that for granted
And I been trying so damn hard to make you proud or understand this
Ill make it right
Ill make it right
Ill make it right I know
And I did it to myself i'm in love with self sabotaging
I made a promise to you and me that Id make it happen
But just like everything else in my life its fucking snapping
Like boy what happened to you you lost all your confidence
Ill tell yo ass a secret if you can keep that shit in confidant
I was heading down the wrong path right now i'm tryna fix that
It don't matter what you did before it matters what you do today
Oh you're so fucking superficial
Oh yeah I hate it and I love it thats the issue
The song is about a person who is in a relationship that they know is not good for them, yet they continue to go back to it. They struggle with showing their true self to their partner, which causes a lack of communication and understanding between them. The singer talks about the sacrifices their mother made for them and how they feel guilty for taking it for granted. They also touch on self-sabotage and their struggle with confidence. Despite all this, they express a determination to make things right and fix their mistakes.
The lyrics are raw and emotional, delving deep into the singer's inner thoughts and struggles. They highlight the complexities of relationships and the difficulties of showing vulnerability. The theme of guilt and regret is prominent throughout the song, emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions and striving to make things right.

A lot of kids don't know what this is called but they have good taste in music. A lot of us youngins weren't around to celebrate back then but when we hear it now, we want to know what it is. And we have the advantage to the internet and researching at the speed of light. Those of you born in the 90s and 00s who don't know what this is, it's called New Jack Swing, and it was "invented" by Teddy Riley and pioneered by other producers and songwriters such as Babyface, DeVante Swing who produced Jodeci and other artists, and Dallas Austin who produced for the girl group called TLC. If you're not familiar with Left Eye, I suggest you dig through some old school music immediately! Old School music is fun, please don't ever get trapped in that fake crap on the radio today.
