Wonderland
Lovich Lene Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Come with meâ??a voice unique is calling
Let the heartbeat relay contact
Curiouslyâ??it seems we must be falling
Caught in the flash
Wonderlandâ??is close at hand

Floating freeâ??exotic thoughts enchant us
Rapt in the dance
Wonderlandâ??is where I am
All is clearâ??the world appears fantastic

Look in the glass
Wonderlandâ??is here at last

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Lovich Lene's song "Wonderland" express an allure to a fantastical place that may be found within oneself. The opening line, "Come with me—a voice unique is calling," suggests that the singer is not necessarily directing someone to follow them to this place, but rather leading by example and inviting someone to join them in their journey inward. The phrase "let the heartbeat relay contact" implies that this is not just a physical journey, but an emotional and spiritual one as well. The singer is suggesting that opening oneself up to this experience will lead to a deeper connection with oneself and others.

The lyrics also suggest a sense of surrender to the unknown. "Curiously—it seems we must be falling" implies that the journey may be unexpected and possibly a bit frightening. However, the singer embraces this feeling and the unknown destination. "Caught in the flash" suggests that there is a sense of excitement and a sudden realization that this journey is worth taking. The feeling of "floating free" emphasizes the idea that this journey is not a physical one, but rather a mental and emotional experience.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Wonderland is close at hand" and "Wonderland is where I am," emphasizing that this fantastical place is not external, but exists within oneself. The lyrics encourage the listener to look inward and explore this inner wonderland, where "all is clear" and "the world appears fantastic." The final line, "Wonderland is here at last," suggests that this journey is not just a one-time occurrence but an ongoing process of self-discovery.

This album reminds me of a time when I used to spend a lot of time in the multimedia library near home. I rented this album and "Wonderland" was my favorite track. I remember recording it on cassette tape for my playlist yeah it was a time where both mediums (CDs and cassette tapes) still co-existed because CD burners weren't a basic feature on laptops at the time

In 1983 Andy Scott (ex-The Sweet) released a single called 'Krugerrands'. There was an instrumental mix on the 12" which was called 'Krugerrmental'. Lene took that track added new words and there you have it...'Wonderland'.

@jerryx2322

Rockula Bacchus, I just had a listen to 'Krugerrmental' and parts of 'Wonderland' are indeed very similar. I hope Lene was honest enough to give Andy Scott some credit...
