Lucia’s sophomore album “Tame the night” will be released November 2009. The culmination of two years of hard work, the album was funded thanks to the belief and support of 903 fans, through the crowd-funding concept Sellaband. $50,000 was raised to finance the album. Securing the Grammy-award winning producing talent of Malcolm Burn (Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Rachael Yamagata, Daniel Lanois), “Tame the night” was recorded in upstate New York in his studio.
“I wanted to make an introspective album that established my own sound. A sound that is intimate and visually evocative, yet within a pop structure,” Lucia explains. A stellar group of musicians contributed to the project: drummer Ethan Eubanks (Ivy, Norah Jones), trumpetist Dan Brantigan (Kaki King), violinist/arranger Kailin Yong and guitarist Mark Axiak. The record will be released through major online retailers, and Lucia will be touring the US and Europe to support its release.
Lucia started playing classical piano as a young girl in Madrid’s Real Musical conservatory, and later started working as a session vocalist in some of the city’s top recording studios. She was accepted into the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, studying with teachers like Marlon Saunders (Michael Jackson, Bobby McFerrin, Sting) and Livingston Taylor (James Taylor).
In 2003 her songwriting career began unfolding while performing at venues of such stature as the Shrine Auditorium in LA and Carnegie Hall in NY, as well as local clubs. In response to audience demand in Northern California, Lucia toured California and Oregon in the fall of 2006.
She also went on her first European Tour in the spring of 2008 to promote her self-titled debut album. Playing in London, Bristol, Paris, Montpellier, Amsterdam, Madrid, Bremen and Tenerife, she garnered public acclaim at live shows and radio appearances. Lucia’s music has been featured on TV shows such as Showtime’s The L Word, in radio stations worldwide and in documentaries (A Day in the Dirt).
Gearing up for Tame the Night release, she’s currently promoting the album with live shows and radio appearances.

Angel
Lucia Iman Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
she will arise, she will be free
two eyes like stars, reflecting thee
the world will look in disbelief
so beatiful...
the angels will adore her
with grace she plays
and while she sleeps
each rose will dress with morning dew
to welcome her, when night is through
so beautiful... the angels will adore her
The lyrics of Lucia Iman's song "Angel" refer to a celestial being that is about to ascend from the darkness into the light. The first verse describes the transformation of the angel from being hidden in the night to rising above the sea, freed from the constraints of the earthly realm. The second verse portrays the angel as a learner, who plays with grace and wakes up to a world that welcomes her with open arms. The chorus repeats the sentiment of the beauty of the angel and how the other angels will look up to her as an object of adoration.
