Poi all'improvviso uscì una lacrima
Confondono i pensieri
The song "Caruso" by Lucio Dala; Mario Frangoulis is a beautiful example of Italian music that tells a story of a man who sings his heart out in front of a beautiful girl in Sorrento. The opening lines of the song describe the sparkling sea and the strong wind blowing on an old terrace before the Gulf of Sorrento. The man embraces the girl after she cries, then he clears his voice and starts singing.
As he sings, he believes his love for the girl is unbreakable; it is a chain that melts the blood in his veins. While he was playing the piano, he saw the lights in the middle of the sea and thought of the nights in America, but it turned out to be the lamps' reflection. He heard the pain in the music and got up from the piano. But, when he saw the moon come out of a cloud, even death seemed sweeter to him.
He looked into the girl's eyes, which were like the green sea. Suddenly, a tear came out of his eyes, and he felt like he was drowning. The power of music takes over, and he forgets the lyrics, the thoughts become foggy, and everything looks small. The man believes his life is like the path of an airplane, which he can see turning and turning. However, he is happy and starts singing again as he realizes the love for the girl is an unbreakable chain that melts his blood.
