La Derive Des Continents
Luna Parker Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Underneath your dream lit eyes
Shades of sleep have driven you away
The moon is pale outside
And you are far from here

Breathing shifts your careless head
Untroubled by the chaos of our lives
Another day, another night
Has taken you again my dear

And you know that I'm gonna be the one
Who'll be there when you need, someone to depend upon

When tomorrow comes
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
When tomorrow comes
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
When tomorrow comes
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
When tomorrow comes
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)

Last night, while you were lying in my arms
And I was wondering where you were
You know you looked just like a baby
Fast asleep in this dangerous world

Every star was shining brightly
Just like a million years before
And we were feeling very small
Underneath the universe

And you know that I'm gonna be the one
Who'll be there when you need, someone to depend upon

When tomorrow comes
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
When tomorrow comes
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
When tomorrow comes
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
When tomorrow comes
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
Oh, yeah

Oh, oh, yeah
And you know that I'm gonna be the one
Who'll be there when you need someone to depend upon

When tomorrow comes oh yeah
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
When tomorrow comes oh
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
When tomorrow comes
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait
When tomorrow comes, oh yeah
(Wait till tomorrow comes, yeah yeah)
I can't wait till tomorrow comes baby, oh

Baby, no no

(I wanna be with you, when tomorrow comes)
I wanna be with you, when tomorrow comes

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Luna Parker's song La Derive Des Continents are about being there for someone when they need you. The opening lines highlight a sense of distance between the singer and the person they are addressing. The person they are addressing is described as being lost in their own dreamworld. The moon is a symbol of isolation, suggesting that the singer feels the distance between them and the person they are addressing. The singer acknowledges the chaos that surrounds their lives, but asserts that they will be there for the person they are addressing when they need someone to depend on.

The second verse describes a moment of intimacy, in which the singers and the person they are addressing are lying together. The person they are addressing looks like a baby, vulnerable and asleep in a dangerous world. The stars are shining brightly, reminding the singers of their smallness in the grand scheme of the universe, but also reminding them of the enduring nature of the world around them. The singers again assert their commitment to being there for the person they are addressing, no matter what tomorrow brings.

Overall, the lyrics of La Derive Des Continents are about connection and commitment. It is a song about being present for the people you love, even in difficult times.

Cette chanson fut ensuite adaptée par son auteur, Jean-François Cohen, pour son propre album avec un superbe clip signé Michaël Gondry.

@Lhippie Kichante du bon boulot , regret de ne l'avoir pas connue à l'époque celle là !

@hobbesmeow : Tu m'étonnes !!!
