I fell asleep beneath the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day
Daydream
I dream of you amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day
As I spy from behind my giant robot's eyes
I keep him happy 'cause I might fall out if he cries
Scared of heights so I might pass out if he flies
Keep him on autopilot 'cause I can't drive
Room enough for one I tell my homies they can't ride
Unless they sittin' on the shoulders but that's way too high
Let's try not to step on the children
The news cameras filmin'
This walki'n project buildin'
Now there's hoes sellin' hoes like right around the toes
And the crackheads beg at about the lower leg
There's crooked police that's stationed at the knees
And they do drive-bys like up and down the thighs
And there's a car chase goin' on at the waist
Keep a vest on my chest
I'm sittin' in my room as I'm lookin out the face
Somethin' to write about
I still got some damage from fightin' the Whitehouse, just a

For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day
Now come on everybody, let's make cocaine cool
We need a few more half naked women up in the pool
And hold this MAC-10 that's all covered in jewels
And can you please put your titties closer to the 22s?
And where's the champagne? We need champagne
Now look as hard as you can with this blunt in your hand
And now hold up your chain slow motion through the flames
Now cue the smoke machines and the simulated rain
But not too loud 'cause the baby's sleepin'
I wonder if it knows what the world is keepin'
Up both sleeves while he lay there dreamin'
Me and my robot tip-toe 'round creepin'
I had to turn my back on what got you paid
I couldn't see half the hood on me like Abu Ghraib
But I'd like to thank the streets that drove me crazy
And all the televisions out there that raised me, I was

The song "Daydreamin'" by Lupe Fiasco is a mixture of dreamy, flowery imagery and gritty narrative commentary. The chorus is quite straightforward, with the singer falling asleep beneath beautiful flowers and dreaming of a loved one. However, the verses provide a vivid contrast to the peaceful dreamscape. The first verse introduces a giant robot, metaphorically representing the singer's persona. The robot keeps the singer safe from the dangers of the world, but the singer is also afraid of the robot's power. The lyrics describe a cityscape filled with poverty, drug addiction, and police corruption. The singer is looking out a window and observing the world around him, noting the many injustices people face.
In the second verse, the singer is commenting on the shallow nature of celebrity culture. The song suggests that fame and fortune come at the cost of morality and authenticity. The singer describes a scenario where people are partying and posing for pictures while surrounded by guns and dangerous drugs. The lyrics imply that people are not only ignorant of the dangers but also complicit in perpetuating the cycle of violence and addiction. The song's title refers to the chorus's daydreaming, which offers an escape from reality's harshness.

Lupe is one of the greatest ever. This song is going over 99% people's
heads... First half of the 1st verse he's talking about the industry
(the robot) and how he has to keep them happy or they will drop him
since he can't have success without them. In the 2nd part he's talking
about how society is constructed while comparing each section to a body.
At the bottom are prostitutes, crime & police and at the face of
society are the entertainers (him self).
2nd verse is a continuation of the first half of the 1st verse and states what
entertainers are doing to keep the industry (robot) happy (promoting
evil by making drugs, alcohol, guns & sex cool). What entertainers
are showing you is evil (fire) and fake (smoke machines and simulated
rain) but is at the same time done in a way that's not harsh enough to
upset the masses. The sleeping (ignorant) baby (you) is being influenced
by him (the entertainer) and his robot (the industry) as they grow up.
He finishes the verse by saying he turned his back on promoting these
things and draws parallels to television which also influenced (raised)
him & us.
