I rose from the sadness of many a poet's rhyme[03:48.86]And quelled the flow of tears destined to be mine[03:55.29]I quenched the fear that one day this body will lose its prime[04:01.48]Convinced I'll take another and trump mortal decline[04:13.71]So – detached – I wander, no sentiment to haunt me[04:20.01]Still one fear I cannot shake and it forever daunts me[04:26.28]Each instant that arrives[04:29.03]On top of all eternity[04:31.83]Forces out of sight[04:34.62]What is or what seems to be[04:37.88]Each second that we cast[04:40.73]Is really a second to none[04:43.35]From first to the last[04:46.33]Is lost and forever gone, lost and gone[04:49.26]There's a great deal to be said, but only few are willing to listen[04:54.91]The gift of clarity demands to be paid in pain that its dawning elicits[05:01.21]The present is here-and-now objects, the past but an imprint on these[05:07.51]A state of affairs we remember, its presence beyond our retrieve[05:13.92]The instants that emerge[05:16.78]On top of all that's come to pass[05:19.45]Are forced to converge[05:22.34]What is and what fails to last[05:25.35]Each moment we belate[05:28.34]Was already sealed up and done[05:31.00]Won't last, it won't wait[05:33.78]Another has just begun[05:40.35]Lacking any bearing on a sterile plane[05:46.04]Barren all to come, empty all before[05:52.48]Spinning turmoil, static feign[05:58.39]Our oasis afloat on no ocean to no shore[06:26.47]Infinity in the palm of a hand[06:32.37]Fata morgana of an upward trend[06:38.70]Cold light of day poses its own demand[06:44.78]Blows all to vapor (no definite end)[06:50.97]Transient consciousness never to land[06:57.08]Ticking away in a castle of sand[07:58.78]So trivial seems our relevance[08:04.54]Slips through our hands[08:08.64]By the end of our song and dance[08:12.17]Impermanence[08:14.75]We need to seal our remembrance[08:17.84]Self-importance[08:20.97]But leave nothing of substance[08:26.97]Leave nothing of substance[09:04.11]So trivial seems our relevance[09:11.83]By the end of our song and dance[09:18.47]We need to seal our remembrance[09:33.03]We don't leave something when we leave the substance[10:23.83]The first thought when I wake and the last before I sleep[10:31.18]Is that the future is here[10:33.81]And I am not in it[10:35.95]In the state and the form I'm so eager to keep[10:43.25]All I know I hold dear[10:46.23]No, won't quit[10:48.75]We are grafted onto this[10:51.38]Inescapable continuum of frames[10:55.43]No-one escapes[10:56.94]Every moment adds one to the pile[11:00.48]Thunderous cascades[11:01.84]Another file into the archive of games[11:06.39]That we shape[11:07.92]These fragments shape the fabric of our "now"[12:02.32]Is this knowledge a gift or a poison?[12:08.55]Recollections are all one, they can't be separated out[12:14.75]From this tesseractic prison[12:20.79]Are we complicit or just numb, manacled by doubt?[12:26.28]My efforts to appreciate drown at an increasing rate[12:32.43]"Enjoy it while it lasts", it seems gets pulverized into the stream[12:38.64]And so my boundless reverence for having my own song and dance[12:44.84]Settles, calmly turning bland, with all the rest into the sand

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Sand" by M-Project explore themes of impermanence, the passage of time, and the fleeting nature of existence. The song starts with the singer rising above the sadness expressed in the poetry of many artists, overcoming tears and fears of aging. They confidently believe they will conquer mortality and continue to thrive. However, they admit to one fear that haunts them - the realization that every moment that arrives forces out of sight what is or what seems to be. Each second that passes is lost and forever gone, leading to a sense of melancholy.

The lyrics also delve into the concept of clarity and the price that comes with it. The gift of understanding demands to be paid in the pain that its realization brings. The present is portrayed as the only tangible reality, while the past is merely an imprint on the present that cannot be retrieved. The song emphasizes how each moment emerges on top of what has already transpired and is eventually forced to converge with what lasts or fails to last.

The chorus highlights the insignificance of human existence, describing it as trivial and slipping through our hands. The song suggests that we should focus on sealing our remembrance and leaving a lasting impact, rather than clinging to self-importance and leaving nothing of substance behind.

Overall, "Sand" invites contemplation on the transient nature of life, the importance of cherishing the present, and the paradoxical struggle between the desire for permanence and the inevitability of change.

Manufactured sand is angular while most river sand is smooth. Crushed rock and crushed sand interlock and help form stable bases. In our area, crushed sand is a byproduct of making crushed stone (gravels). It should be even better in concrete than river sand.

When you buy 3/4 minus for example, the fines are actually crushed sand. Some places call the crushed sand 'rock dust' and are used under pavers for example.

In this video, when finished sand is being discharged to a pile, the angle of the slope is quite steep. That is because the sand particles being angular interlock. Angle of Repose increases.

Impressive! Professional! I learned a lot from you! Thanks!

@wu jeyne glad the information was helpful. I was a Landscape Architect for years. Combine design, construction management, supervision. Studied Civil Engineering in College along with L Arch. In my area, mostly river deposited rocks, gravels, sands. Some is sold as 'washed' and others as 'crushed'. Was always careful to specify right kind of rock.

@Eduardo Landolt thank you

@Steven Rohrich No wonder! You have a great career. The crushed artificial sand is in high demand. I hope to improve the sand productivity with our tungsten carbide wear parts for the crushers, and help the sustainability of the envioronment as well.

A commentary on the process and machine-types being used would have gone a long way in helping us viewers understand these.
