“Oceans Niagara”—the lead single of M83’s upcoming ninth album, Fantasy—reunites Gonzalez with longtime collaborator Justin Meldal-Johnsen and gets back in the business of rocket launches. The song is aerodynamic yet explosive when it needs to be; like NASA, Gonzalez never wants you to lose sight of how he brought the impossible within reach. When he belts out “beyond adventure!”—soaring with every overdubbed guitar harmony and drum fill—there’s a sincerity that cannot be manufactured. No one could blame Gonzalez for trying to distance himself from the cottage industry he unwittingly created; the return to form on “Oceans Niagara” is his way of reaching outer space and inner peace.

Beyond adventure
Beyond adventure
The repeated phrase "beyond adventure" in M83's song "Oceans Niagara" carries deep meaning and communicates a sense of transcendence and exploration that goes beyond ordinary experiences. It speaks to the idea of pushing the boundaries of what is known and familiar, venturing into uncharted territories, and embracing the unknown with a fearless spirit. It invites the listener to embark on a journey of self-discovery, shedding the constraints of everyday life and diving into the vast depths of possibility.
The first mention of "beyond adventure" presents the notion that there is something greater than what we commonly perceive. It suggests that there is a realm beyond the mundane, where one can escape the confines of routine and explore the depths of their own existence. It encourages individuals to transcend limitations, whether self-imposed or societal, and challenge themselves to reach new heights. It asks us to question conventional boundaries and seek greater fulfillment in life.
The repetition of this phrase serves to emphasize the magnitude of the concept being conveyed. By reiterating "beyond adventure," M83 underscores the notion that there is an infinite realm awaiting discovery for those who dare to take the leap into the unknown. It suggests that the world is brimming with possibilities, waiting to be explored and experienced by those who are willing to break free from the norms and expectations that often confine us.
Furthermore, "beyond adventure" encapsulates an attitude of curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. It is an invitation to embrace the wonders of the world and to be open to new experiences, perspectives, and understandings. It challenges us to go beyond our comfort zones, to dive deeper into the oceans of our own consciousness, and to discover the untapped potential within ourselves.
Overall, M83's "Oceans Niagara" and its repeated mention of "beyond adventure" speaks to the universal human desire for exploration and growth. It urges us to step outside of the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary; to transcend the boundaries of our own limitations and embark on a journey of self-discovery. By fostering a spirit of curiosity and fearlessness, this song invites us to dive into the depths of our own existence and discover the hidden treasures that lie within, beyond the reaches of conventional adventure.

It only took 11 years to get back to what sounds like that melancholic sound that no one will ever be able to duplicate.

I know right. I just couldn’t get into anything after Hurry up, we’re dreaming. Loving this tho!

Agree. Got into 83 when Before the Dawn Heals Us was released and loved Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. Reunion was a great track. I'm hoping Fantasy brings us back.

Almost cried listening in my car. M83 means so much to me
@ROHealth
Amazing you say that.
I had the same response…
I was actually emotionally on a roller coaster with most of the songs on this album. That had never happened to me…

@@ROHealth M83 is everything. i've had my first car since 2012, don't plan on getting rid of it at all. Hurry up, We're Dreaming saved me from depression. I always have a CD of Hurry Up, We're Dreaming on the ready. Still drive that car daily, and I never want to let it go
